Re phone BT6500, how does one increase the number of rings before it goes to answerphone?

Hi
I give below the step by step procedure for changing the number of rings the phone will sound.
1. Select Menu, Answer Phone is displayed, press
Select.
2. Press until Settings is displayed, press Select.
3. Press to highlight either Ans. & record or
Answer only and press Select.
4. Answer delay is displayed, use or to display
the number of rings you want (0-9 rings or Time
saver) and select Save. Saved will be displayed.
Be aware though that the number of rings needs to be less than your ansaphone service, for BT 1571 this is 5 rings, although more may be possible if you can get BT to change their 1571 for your line.
For more information about your phone you can download a pdf format manual from here:
https://www.shop.bt.com/content/uni2/documentation/8h3j/bt6500_user_guide.pdf
This can be saved to hard disk for future reference.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

How do I block calls on my wildcard phone?

Until now, it has been difficult, if not impossible, to block selected phone numbers from ringing your phone. Various features that are offered by some telephone service providers have provided limited relief, at a cost, but until the introduction of the Caller ID Manager, a total solution was not available.
With the Caller ID Manager, you can easily block phone numbers and anonymous callers without added monthly fees. You can now block phone calls from any number that you choose, including local, long distance, international and cell phone callers. A 'Wildcard' feature is included for those who wish to block calls from entire area codes, prefixes, or number sets. You also have the option to block phone calls during specified hours, either on a one-time or daily basis, using the built-in scheduler.

Shared telephone ling malfunctions sometimes

It looks like you have a distinctive ring service from your phone company. Change the ring pattern of your fax to its assigned ring pattern (double or triple ring). It could be assigned to 'all rings' right now, that's why your fax is picking up your landline calls as well.

Goodluck!

Blocking a phone number

if you want to block your own number dial *67 before you dial... to block someone else try dialing

To activate Call Block or add a telephone number to the rejection list, dial *60. If you dont know the number to be blocked, dial *60 immediately after hanging up from the call. To turn off Call Block, dial *80. Call Block cannot block calls from some cellular phones, pay phones or business lines. It also cannot block most long distance numbers.
