Resolution problem

This monitor's standard resolution is 1280x1024. I would update your graphics driver. Just go into System Properties, and open up the Device Manager. (Press WinKey+Pause/Break key to open System Properties, and Device Manager is in the Hardware tab.) Locate the graphics driver in the Device list, right click and update the driver.

Monitor resolution

Sounds like either the trapazoidal is off or the pincushion is set improperly. You should be able to find those settings via the monitors onboard menu. Either one can create such a problem.

You might also check into finding the factory defaults selection. This will reset all of the resolutions and refresh rate settings.

When you adjust your screen follow these steps in order...

Pincushion : Makes the screen look like ( ) or ) (
Trapazoidal : Makes the screen look like / \ or \ /
Horizontal : Basically stretches the screen wider or skinnier to fit the monitor
Vertical : Basically the same as Horizontal, only with the up and down properties
Contrast / Brightness : Use this to find the perfect white and blacks
Color : Finish your setup with adjusting to the perfect color.

This way you can always have your monitor set like you want it.

Wide Screen Problem (Pincushion)

Some countries get themselves 'burned' to a spot because of lack of use. a slight twich one way or another will reset it . The control that you are referring to is it a direct acting one - that is does the work or is it of the switch variety- that is you activate the control but then have to move larger wheel to do the work?

Can't Fix Pincushion

If the menu is appearing then it should be able to adjust the Monitor, provided you have replaced the micro switches. Check for continuity by pressing the buttons. I don't think that there is any prolem with other components.

Objects on screen out of window

CRT monitors suffer from the so-called pincushion effect. It is the curving of the actual video picture usually inwards on the sides. There is often an adjustment to compensate for this and it's usually situated near the other user controls. Look for it in you manual.

Now, because of magnetism differences in the world. The monitor is setup to work where it was built. The pincushion effect get worse over time. The degree of severity depends on the location of the monitor and the quality of the design of it to facilitate enough future re-adjustment by turning the pincushion knob.
