    Thanks...
Dave, do I clean it from taking the roof section apart or try cleaning it from inside the RV thru the return air area? Is it hard to disassemble the roof part. I have only taken off the cover and washed the outside coils. Never tried the inside one. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks alot we will try it this weekend. I found another web site with step by step directions for opening up the roof part. There is only about a 9 inch square opening for the return air inside my rv. nor enough room to clean it properly, without getting to it from the roof. Thanks again.

You need to clean this section of coils badly. Get a plant or weed sprayer. go to a a/c parts supply store and get some coil cleaner. Tell the staff that you need something to clean the coils on your a/c coil. Tell them what kind of a/c you have abd they will assist you in the purchase of the proper chemicals. Make sure to read directions for the use of the chemical and also wear all necessary protection equipment, i.e. safety glasses, gloves. Follow the instructions on the chemical as how to clean your coils. Once the coils are cleaned you still may need to have the pressures checked on your unit. It won't help to check the pressures on your unit when coils are dirty since that will give you false readings. So you need to start by cleaning the coils. Good luck Dave

you said there was flakey black deposits on the coils . I would clean the area you found that had this deposit. The roof is another story I am to assume that the area you are looking at with the debris is your evaporator coil.. On the roof it is your condensing coil.. Clean the inside first and have someone assist you with a wet vac as not to get cleaner all over the place. If you are worried about doing any of this a qualified tech should do it for you and cost would be minimal. Have the unit checked out to see if its running at full potential This could save hundreds of dollars for repairs in the future. Hope this helps..

Why is my brisk air duo therm rv ac freezing up on the inside.

Where you see frost all the time, wait for unit to thaw and start cooling again and carefully slide hand up in that hole and see if you can feel cool air leaking in from divider that separates cool and return air, that will cause freeze-ups as well. Use foil tape if necessary to stop any cool air coming in to return air from around divider. Also, if you have any diffusers closed, (on ducted system in ceiling) or partially closed, open them all up full flow. If you restrict the cold air from coming out too much, it can also cause freeze up. One more thing, take cover off where cool air box is and double check that something isn't restricting the flow of cold in to the duct work if it has ducted system.

Our upstairs Central AC unit will not cool below 80 degrees. Everything is blowing fine. It is 89 degrees outside today. The air coming in thru the ducts is 80 degrees. The downstairs unit blows 70...

you will need a thermometer, you can use a meat therm.take a temp reading of the air going into the return and then coming out of the supply at the unit, it should be at least 15 to 20 degrees cooler in the supply, if not it may be low on refrigerant also check filter and return duct make sure your not pulling air from attic

Check the filters and make sure the coils are clean first. Then make sure both fans are running, the evaporator fan and condenser fan. If all of that is ok then you need to get the refrigerant charge checked.

Remove the filter at ceiling and run the AC on cool etc, and see if you can feel cool air leaking across to return air inlet where the divider between cold and return is. Check along all edges, etc for any cool air . Careful of wiring, but you should be able to get hand in there and feel especially around the edges where it should be sealed tight. Quite often a leak in that area causes cold air to enter return air and causes excessive condensation. Another thing to check is look way up inside opening for return air, with a flashlight and see if any dirt/dust on coils and fins of evaporator, and if so, needs to be cleaned off with a vacuum, and brush attachment. Let me know what you find.

I have a dometic duo-therm. No air coming through ducts.

Sounds like the ducting have come apart in some areas or blocked in some way. Take the supply grills off and with a shop vacuum try and reach as far as you can.
