I cant get back to tv after watching dvd. Tells me No Signal. Was OK before watching the DVD.

Hi,first of all I assume that your Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player has the recording features as well..othervise you cant do anything"NEGATIVE" ..If yes than follow the procedure below..
If you want to record your TV program while watching to your DVD/VCR system you need to connect "Video - Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV or CABLE box to "Audio-Video input or "Optic Cable input" of the DVD
There you go..Your TV's video and sound is on the DVD/VCR Dual Player Receiver..of course your DVD source input should correspond with the jacks you used on the back...push "RECORD" button it should start for recording the coming signal into DVD
when you recording the output RCA jacks of DVD will generate the signal of whatever records that can be monitored with another TV set after properly connected..

switch inputs. if you were watching a dvd and turned off the dvd player the tv will no longer be recieving a signal. turn the dvd player back on to test.

Your dvd will have a scart socket or a hdmi or other socket, ( check manual), connect lead from dvd to tv, output from dvd to input on tv, from one of these ,on your tv remote select the button that changes the av select , that means the button that tells tv that you want to watch signal from dvd ,( or other input devices) ie sky video camera etc it may be av1 av2 av3, you should get a picture on one of these,

Some philips tv's have a built in aerial amplifier, perhaps if you bought a digital aerial booster it will improve the picture quality.

use the colored lead (RC) cables to connect from dvd player to your tv, it is color coded so you cant go wrong, then select av on the tv to watch dvd, if it can connect to tv with rc cable then you will need an adapter to connect dvd through antenna jack ok

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red,white,and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

this sounds like a connection problem. are the scart or av leads ok whatever you are using ? if so then the most likely cause is the signal interface inside the tv. try connecting with a different connection system

If you have connected the DVD to the TV with a scart lead, the lead could be slightly loose. In this case push all the scart leads in firmly.

Pin 8 of the lead carries a switching signal. When the DVD is powered on it tells the TV to switch to that input. If the switching signal is lost the TV will switch back.

If you have the original remote, hit video, source, or input button, if it dont have them, then try to change the tv to channel 00 (zero or zerozero), if not then the channels might have to scroll to it, from channel 02 down to make it loop, if it goes to the next highest channel, then you need a remote. It may be set in the menu options to have the video source not saved to your list of saved channels. when you scan the channels, the tv might not look for the A/V source (audio / video), maybe just the RF source. The 3 DVD RCA wires are 1 video and 2 stereo, one stereo for left and one stereo for right. The TV has only 2 , 1 for video and 1 for mono 1 channel sound. This wouldnt have anything to do with why you cant use the DVD player. but try that with the original remote (or a universal remote that is set to your tv set that has either video, input, source or something similar. It is what tells the tv to change from the cable source (RF) and the AV source (the Red White and Yellow plugs, in your TV's case, 2 plugs, one yellow and the other either red or white or something). Dont really know how to explain it much more but hope it helps.
