Re: sound

Please be a bit more specific, for example:

Do you have the drivers installed for the sound?

Does it give you an Error when you try to play music?

Are you using a sound card or are you using the sound port integrated on the mobo?

What is the make and model of either the sound card or the mobo?

Let me know so that I can further assist you,

I just hooked up an AOC monitor to two computers. Sound is working on one but not working on my HP Pavilion. How do I resolve that? I don't have any extra speakers.

The sound goes out of the computer to a set of speakers. If the monitor has speakers built into it, then the sound comes out of them. Each computer must have a connection to the sound card (the little green hole) to speakers. If you want sound from the second computer, unplug the sound cable from the one computer and plug it into the other one.

I can't get my speakers to work.Unsure if speakers are hooked up correctly. Was given to me by my daughter, and she doesn't remember how to either. Thanks

You can do some simple checks to see if things work. take a small battery (any physical size will do) from a working flashlight or similar item then put the small plug from the speakers on one terminal and then use a wire to touch the other terminal to the second contact on the plug. you should get a clicking sound from the speakers. Once you know the speakers work you want to plug the plug into the SAME colored jack on the computer. Watch out since the light blue and the light green can easily get confused. If you still don't have sound check the small speaker symbol on the bottom tool bar on the computer to ensure the speakers aren't muted and the volume is up. If there is no small speaker on the bottom you can go to the Control Panel (accessed from the start button) and find the SOUND icon. double click it and see if you've got sound enabled. If you have a set of small ear plugs such as earbuds for an ipod, you can check the sound at the back of the computer before going to the control panel. If, in the first instance, you do not get any clicks from the speakers, be sure that the speakers are powered (either by fresh batteries or a small wall transformer). Good luck and good hearing <grin>. Fishlung

The speakers dont work in the moniter L70S

I'm assuming you have the sound cable plugged into the back of the monitor and then into the computer. If not, do it. Then go through the steps you normally would to check sound--are the drivers installed, is the sound on (not muted) etc. Are the speakers turned on by the controls on the monitor itself?
If none of these work, go buy external speakers.

No sound from computer

Check the speaker cable connected properly in the back of the computer. If you have recenly unplugged the speakers , chances may be you have it plugged in wrong place. Green output is the one for the speakers in most computers.
This is not the case , problem would have been in the speakers or the computer hardware. Try connecting another speakers and see if that would work. If it still doesn't work replace the sound card on the computer.

Sound in right speaker only

Do you have stereo headphones available? If so, try plugging the headphones into the computer. If both headphone speakers work then the problem is either in the monitor or the audio cable. If only the right headphone speaker works, then the problem is in the computer....probably a bent or broken contact in the audio output jack, or perhaps an incorrectly placed sound jumper on the motherboard.

Try to find another sound jack...for example, if you're using the sound jack on the rear there another one on the front of the computer?

Are you using the correct type of stereo sound cable? There should be three metal electrical contacts on the sound connector....a metal tip, a separate metal ring, and the metal sleeve. If there is only a metal tip and a metal sleeve with no ring...then you're using a "mono" cable that will only support one speaker.

If the cable and computer are ok, then your monitor probably has a problem with it's left speaker. You'll need to take it to a qualified computer or tv repair technician to track down the exact cause and repair it.
