Question about Brother 929D Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

No stitches 925D.

I have a 925D and the stitches will not hold. All the parts are moving fine It was sewing fine and then all of a sudden it won't make any stitches. I rethreaded it several times and the threads just come out straight. It won't make any stiches.

Re: No stitches 925D.

Probably your looper timing is off. This is common, and just a necessary evil of sergers. Their tolerances are tight.
The operation of creating a serger stitch is a succession of thread grabing and delivering. One looper grabs a thread and delivers it to the needle and so on.
To check this, turn your handwheel slowly and check to see that the upper looper is meeting the lower looper by passing very close to the indented part at the back of the lower looper (indented part is called the scarf, this is where the looper threads form a lock) If not, it's the looper timing. If they seem to meet properly then check your needle. Is your needle up into the needle clamp all the way? Try a new needle. Even a slight bend to the needle will not allow the loopers to meet and grab or deliver thread. You might check the tensions. Thread has to have some resistance in order for the loopers to do their job,

If your looper timing is off, find a sewing repair person to retime the serger. Don't try it yourself or put this repair off. If the loopers go further out of timing, they might hit something and replacement can be costly.

I can be sewing along just fine and all of a sudden it will get stuck and not move forward. It keeps stitching in one spot. It has been doing that repeatedly.

Try adjusting your tension a little higher. I believe it's a thread bunching problem that a higher tension might solve. You might want to hold the fabric a little taught front and back as your sewing. that might help too.

it might be a good time to have the sewing machine checked
to see if there is a part that may be going bad, or the machine may need some type of adjustment.

Serger won't chain off a stitch. Stitches won't chain and hold to fabric. Added new needle, rethreaded whole machine. Stitches won't connect to fabric or make a chain.

is it possible that the needles are in backwards?
it's very possible that the machine is out of time & would have to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop to be retimed

I have a brother pacesetter 607 model. It used to work very good for years but lately its not sewing the zigzag or any other stitch other than the straight stitch. can you help please? Thanks.

Simple things first, check the needle to make sure it is perfect, if you can select all the patterns and the needle moves from side to side but does not pick up the thread then it could be a timing issue and you can email me for attachment of instructions, if the needle is not moving side to side when you select a pattern then it may well be a split camstack.

The Reverse stitch button

The feed mechanism needs to be oiled. Take off the bottom cover and look for any place where two parts move against each other. Some binds can be very difficult to remove. Try spraying everything with a light weight oil (I like Tri-Flow) and let them soak over night. Then manually try to move the feed dogs with your hand. Hopefully it will break loose.
Good luck!
