I had a similar problem with a maytag. I couldn't replace the pin because it was molded in and had snapped off. I used a coarse 1" screw and screwed into the side next to the hole. You may need different size screw, but this worked for me. It's not a perfect fix but it works.

You can place extra recycling neatly at the side of your recycling bin in the old recycling boxes, a cardboard box or a clear plastic bag. Please do not use black bin liners.

Just got it in May, can't remove ice bin. Tryed blow dryer and warm water still can't remove

For Kenmore and whirlpool -- I actually did this twice - neither time was pretty so I can't guarantee it will work for you. As best as I can tell the infamous blue button (or tab) on the right side of the bin controls a long blue plastic slider that runs along the back of the bin bottom and is supposed unseat 2 plastic tabs when pushed in (we all know how we'll that works!). First I pull the blue button (tab) all the way out. Then I slide a long thin piece of metal (in my case a bread knife) in along the back of the bin under the blue plastic slider (which of course being under the bin you can't see). Then I put upward pressure on the blue slider by pushing down on the knife handle (like a lever). After several attempts (if you are lucky) the right tab will unseat and the bin will be loose but probably not free. At this point I was able to put strong upward pressure while rocking right and left and the back tab gives way (if you are lucky). Obviously plastic is involved and breakage is possible - only attempt if you are ready to take a sledge hammer to it as I have been!

I have a Frigidaire FRS23H5ASB9 side-by-side. The "cube" button works, but only crushed comes out. "Crushed" button works fine, too, but we usually want cubes. What's causing this? Is it the dispenser or...

most likely the solinoid is frozen or bad.. pull ice bin, the metal lever on back of bin fits in solinoid in freezer see if you can move plastic piece in freezer with finger.

I only get crushed ice even when the button is on

Pull the ice bin out and you'll see a rectangular hole with a plastic piece that has a rectangular hole in it. This piece will correspond to a steel rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bin. This steel rod actuates the crush/cube option in the dispenser. Sometimes icing can cause the plastic piece to get stuck. Try "jiggling" the plastic piece up and down until it frees and operates easily. Then replace your ice bin and try operating the controls on the dispenser again.

Can't figure out how to open the canaster to take the dirt out

Above the clear bin (canister) is the cyclone, and on top of that there's a handle. The whole bin-plus-cyclone assembly is released from the rest of the machine by grasping the handle and releasing the button that is on top of the handle where your thumb naturally falls. The trigger on the underside of the same handle releases the base of the bin (on a hinge) so the waste falls out.
You need to be careful not to squeeze that trigger until the bin is wherever you want to get rid of the waste, or else you'll end up with it all back on the floor!
You can empty the waste directly into a trash can, or enclose the bin in a plastic waste bag before releasing the waste.  After, make sure the base is properly re-secured before re-fitting the bin to the machine.  You can wipe the outside of the bin with a damp cloth.  If you wipe the inside (not necessary, but sometimes nice) make sure it is completely dry before closing the base.
I hope this helps.  I value your feedback, so please remember to rate this response.
Good luck!

Bottom of dirt container doesn't stay closed

The catch/latch that is on the bottom of the bin button release has likely broken.
If you take out the canister (as when you are dumping the bin), and flip it upside down and then squeeze the bin release button, you will see that it moves a rod inside the cyclone assembly.  At the end of this rod is a plastic (plastic.. redundant, as the entire Dyson is practically plastic) latch that catches onto the bin's lid and locks it in place.  A broken latch means it doesn't lock the lid in.
What you need is a replacement latch.  Note that the "Bin Release Button + Rod assembly" that are sometimes sold on ebay do *not* contain the latch at the end of the rod.  Also the bottom bin assembly does not contain the required parts.
The cyclone assembly should have the full bin release rod + latch, so if you can't find the latch, then a new cyclone assembly would work also (but will cost more, obviously).

Ice Maker not dispensing ice...

Thanks anyway, guys, but I figured it out. Hopefully this can help someone else. I noted that the auger indeed is supposed to rotate fully and not just swing from side to side as mine was doing. I then noted that my auger had screwed itself too far into the slotted plastic plate at the back of the bin. It was therefore lopsided in the bin and hitting on both sides. I took the contraption apart so that I could back it out and put it back correctly in the slot. The ring shape of the end of the auger fit snugly back around the round plastic ring again. Buttoned it all back up and I'm good to go....for now. (smile)
