Can't get needle stay in the clamp ?

On the 237 there should be a very small piece of round metal that fits into the needle clamp so when it tightens it keeps the needle in the correct position, you may have lost that small piece of metal.

The thing you put the needle in and their is a wire thing that goes in there...that piece fell out and needle won't stay in...it's a brother XR-35

What fell out was the needle clamp gib - a small wedge-like part that presses on the needle to hold in place.

You may be able to get it repaired or replaced.

Search online for parts, or ask a sewing machine service tech for an estimate for having the machine repaired.

Needle clamp fell off. got a new one, but need

I have an XL6452 and the same problem. I figured out that you can use a tiny screw driver (or an allen wrench might work). I tried using the screw that tightens the needle but it didn't seem to work. The screw looks like it just a hole. It took a lot of turns to get it loose enough so you can put it on. You will see it come out.
Once you get it on you can tighten it.

Needle clamp won't attach to needle bar

There is a set screw above the needle pin screw which tightens with an allen wrench--try that.
