Maybe this will help if I give more detail: One of the partners is no longer with this firm, so we need to change the header so his name doesn't show up on any incoming and outgoing faxes. (this is a SHARP F04970, Equip ID NO: 1779). Thank you

How do I change the name and fax number on the top of my outgoing faxes

The software that came with the printer will have a "setup" or "settings" icon. You can change it there.

If you can't find it or never installed it you can delete the printer software and re-install it and you can start from scratch with the new information you want.

I need to change the name on outgoing faxes from my HP 6310 Officejet, but cannot find the information in the owner's manual. Can you help?

This "Fax header" information can be changed on the OfficeJet 6310 control panel:

1) Press the <Setup> button
2) Press 4, then press 1
3) Enter your personal or company name
4) Enter your fax number

You may have to use the numeric keypad to enter letters. The number of presses of the key changes the letter.

I hope this helps!

Fax machine works good but I bought it at an auction sale and when you send a fax it has the former owner name and fax number on it. I need to change this info to my name & fax# and don't have a manuel...

To change the fax header from the front pannel:
Press Menu , then 7 , then 2 . Enter your fax number and name to be printed on all outgoing faxes. NOTE: In some locations this is a legal requirement. Entering text Press the keypad numbers corresponding to the letters you need. It will cycle through the lower case, then the upper case of each letter. Press the right arrow button (also the Speed Dial button) to advance to the next space. Example: Pressing number 2 once = a, twice = b, three times = c, four times = A, five times = B, six times = C, seven times = 2. *** You can get support for your printer (i.e., download drivers, software, manual an other documentation and access FAQs and How-Tos for your printer) from HP, here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=58854&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

How do I change the header to accurately display our business name on outgoing faxes?

http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cop_man_ar235_75.pdf (this is the opreation manual for the machine)

http://www.sharp.ca/manuals/ ( look for AR-FX4 which is the fax manual, this will better explain how to do this )
These particular machines are not the easiet to do.. I would suggest downloading the manual.. Below is from the manaul..

Press the FUNCTION key.
Press the arrow key to select "KEY OPE. PRG." and then press the OK key.

Enter your key operator code. (Usually 00000)

As you enter the code, the hyphens (-) change to asterisks
If you make a mistake, press the CLEAR key.

Press the up or down key to select "FAX" and then press the OK key.

Press the Up or Down key to select "INITIAL SETTING" and then press the OK key.
Press the Up or Down key to select "OWN PASSCODE SET" and then press the OK key.
Press the Up or Down key to select "STORE" and then press the OK key.
Enter your fax number with the numeric keys and then press the OK key.
Enter your name and then press the START key.
When the setting is completed, press the CLEAR ALL key.
 The key operator program ends.
