Is the engine in my 1963 Vette the original engine? Engine ID on rt front of engine is F0422R and the VIN is xxx638.

Engine block casting is 3782870 with a date of D23. Head castings are 3795896 with a date of D203. Seller said it was a 340 HP engine. One site I went to said this block was used for 250 to 375 hp 327's. Another site said it was for a 62-67 car/truck.

2004 Ford F-150. How many VIN/ID tags are located on it?

The VIN Numbers are where you said. The engine has a casting number and a serial number that is not the VIN number, but is linked to the vehicle. Image a production line with 200 engines on pallets all numbered and waiting to go in a vehicle. The vehicle has a VIN number on it and they just pick the nearest engine and mount it, registering that number engine to the vehicle it went into.

Where and how many freeze plugs are on a 96 Cadillac DeVille 4.6L v8

A hunt and count question. core/freezed plug.
NO VIN told no RPO code for engine told.
8th digit of VIN is ENGINE CODE VIN :"Y" below.
or vin=9 (8TH)
well even the service manual does not do the count.
it shows some, block and heads.
what you can learn to do is google it.
here is how to do that
I google new rebuilt raw engine blocks for sale.
watch out engine can evolve and even be swapped a newer GEN engine, 279 cu in (4.6 L)
but I will post for DAY new,1996 only
1996, the Northstar engine
RPO code LD8 or L37
lets to LD8
the DeVille Concours was available with the new 270 hp (201 kW) LD8 Northstar V8, and later, the high-output L37 Northstar generating 300 hp (220 kW).
LD8
first hit shows VIN-=Y shows 4 in the 2 heads 2x2.=4
left and right heads outside ends. and 1 rear and front of head for 6 total,

What cuin, hp, trq, bore&stroke for this small blk 1995 chevrolet impala ss. casting #43006 below sg1 below h294. stamped #1sr177932 please

I don't think you have anything that will help in your search.
The 95 Impala SS came with a 350 cu in engine stock. The VIN code was P and the horsepower rating was 260. The casting number for that block would be something like 10199001 or 14101148. After 1970 GM started stamping a partial vin number on the blocks to match the original car. If you had the original car you could check the 8th digit of the VIN to verify the engine.

Just wondering What my engine is out of. i bought it as a 350 Chev but not sure exactly if its a 350 or not. engine number KO314CMJ casting number 3970010

Hey spoofy, that is a good block casting...Chevy used that from 1969-1979. The Vette, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Monte Carlo and Trucks all had this engine. If it's a 4 bolt main, the chances it came out of a Vette are very good. The engine number you give does not cross reference.
I hope this helps.

What are the engine codes and what do they stand for? ie: Y= 400 C.I. engine,325 h.p.

What kind of Pontiac engine you have? Is it pre-80's? Pontiac engines have a 2 letter stamp on the front top passenger corner of the engine block. The year is usually next to the distributer hole, and the actual casting number is located on the top rear of block. Some sites offer casting number searches. A good one is wallaceracing.com. They deal with everything from block and cylinder head numbers. If the engine is 1970 or newer, engine size is casted behind the dipstick passenger side of block and also on the front driverside of block too. There are many different variations of codes to list. A example it the engine is made in 1967, casting number is 9786133, code on the right front of block says YE, then it's a 1967 400, that originally had a automatic transmission connected to it, had 10.5 to 1 compression, #066 camshaft, 143 or 061 cylinder heads, 4bbl carb, and 325 horsepower.
