SOURCE: NO DETAILED MAPS FOUND TO SUPPORT ROUTING

You need to unlock the unit. I had the same problem with one that I have. Try this:

The No Detailed Maps Found That Support Routing message could be due to the following reasons:

  • The GPS device is missing it's unlock code
  • The maps on the GPS device have been disabled
To determine the cause of the message, touch the screen until the message No Detailed Maps Found That Support Routing disappears.
  • If you get a Can't Unlock Maps message following this error remove any microSD / SD cards in the device and follow the instructions below for Retrieving your unlock codes followed by the instructions for Creating an unlock file.
  • If you do not get the Can't Unlock Maps message then skip to the instructions for Enabling maps on the GPS device.
Retrieving your unlock codes:
  1. Log into your myGarmin account: https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces
  2. Select myMaps.
  3. Select Manage Maps.
  4. Select the device from the drop down menu.
  5. The unlock code is located under the "Maps installed on this device" section.
Creating an unlock code file:
  1. Plug your Garmin device into the USB port.
  2. Double-Click on My Computer or Computer located on the desktop.
  3. Double-Click on the Garmin or nüvi drive.
  4. Double-Click on the Garmin folder.
  5. Right-Click in a blank space in this window.
  6. Move your mouse over the word New.
  7. Select Text Document.
  8. Press Enter / Return on your keyboard.
  9. Double-Click on the New Text Document. This will open the New Text Document in a window called Notepad.
  10. Type the unlock code that is listed in the Manage Maps section of your myGarmin account in all upper-case letters with no spaces before or after.
  11. Select File.
  12. Select Save As.
  13. Change the Save As Type to All Files.
  14. Type gmapprom.unl in all lower-case letters for the File name.
  15. Select Save.
  16. Close the Notepad window.
  17. Delete the New Text Document file.
  18. Disconnect the GPS device from your computer.
*nuvi x70 owners with transatlantic mapping will need to follow the Creating an unlock code file instuctions above for their U.S. mapping and then create another unlock file for their European maps:

SOURCE: garmin nuvi says, "no detailed maps found to support routing."

I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You
may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the
screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.

If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been
disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the
steps below:

From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings
(Tools).
Touch Map.
Touch Map Info.
The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit.
The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does
not, touch the box to place a tick in it.

Then please test by searching for an address.
