Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

There seems to be no power to our shredder.

We have tried plugging it in to other power sources that we know do work.

Beverly, the power supply for shredder is probably bad. If it has a external power supply, take old power supply with you to a electronics shop and have them match it up for you, with a universal power supply.

My Black & Decker Shredder #BD-61 all of a sudden does not work. I used it tonight, but the next time I tried it does not work. The lights come on in both positions, but

On some shredders when both the forward and reverse LEDs are on it can indicate either a jam or a full receiver bag/ container (the area that the shredded paper is fed into).
Try the following steps:
  1. ) unplug the power
  2. ) open up the shredder (see 1 on diagram)
  3. ) empty out all the shredded paper (see 2 on diagram)
  4. ) check that the shredding jaws (both the entrance and exit) are clear of any shredded material (see 3 on diagram)
  5. ) put everything back together
  6. ) plug power cord back in
  7. ) force the shredder into reverse (see 4 on diagram)
Hopefully you should hear your shredder motor running. If it is switch it to automatic and try shredding again

Suddenly stopped. Power source is good.p Had been working ed. Does not go forward nor backward. Power source is goog.

It could be there is still some material in the cutting wheels. We have had this happen to our shredder a few times, do your best to get stuck materials free.

Good Luck

Ccs/5 shredder wont power on

Do a very thorough inspection of the cutting blades. I have found that just a shred of paper, that one would think would not be a problem, can in fact make your shredder act as you describe. How old is it? Depending on age & the heavy usage you say it has had.... it could very well be good old made in USA obsolescence. Wish I could tell you more. Without a multi-meter;(Ohm Meter). & manual to know what power is getting from point A to point B I cannot advise beyond this. Sorry.

The shredder will not power on. No lights - power source is good

Make sure the waste bin is firmly seated all the way back into the unit. The unit won't work unless the bin is inserted all the way back (must be a safety switch back there)...then it should power up when plugged in

I have model # SH9210PL. All of a sudden, when plugged in, it does not work. No lights come on at all and no shredding. Because the motor etc. is all incased I don't know how to fix it. I have tried...

Shredders are such simple machines that there is very little that can go wrong with them, You do not seem to be getting power to the machine - check the plug and lead, there might be a broken connection there.

No power to shredder wwhen plugged in

This mfr. and model seems to be very problematic. I suspect that whatever serves to protect the motor from overload has failed completely or an internal fuse has blown.
BTW: For t_vinson; WD-40 can attack a number of different plastics so without knowing which plastics were used in this machine, that might make things much worse. For electrical contact cleaning/restoration, there are contact cleaners available that do not affect plastics.

Shredder Malfunction

Unless you are going to take the entire shredder apart, you are not going to be able to get to the blades unless you were going to pour some kind of liquid adhesive removal into the blades.
This wouldn't be my 1st suggestion.

One thing you can try is, go to your local hardware store and purchase a pint or quart of 3 in 1 household oil. With the machine UNPLUGGED. **** Also I would place some sheets of paper towels inside the catch bin to absorb any excess oil that drips out. **** Pour the 3 in 1 oil into the blades and let it soak in. I would start with about 2- 4 ounces, then wait about 10 minutes to allow the oil to soak into the labels. Plug the machine in and try running 1 single sheet through the shredder. With any luck, some of the labels will either stick to the paper or drop into the basket. You might have to do this about 3-5 times.
** Remember to UNPLUG the shredder each time you are pouring the 3 in 1 oil on to the blades just as a safety precaution.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if it worked or not and also post a feedback / rating for me.
Have a good day.
Mac =)

Shredder runs in reverse, but will not feed in auto.

The light beam from the photocell that checks if there stiil is paper to be shred is either clogged by paper dusrt, or there is still some paper pieces left in the shredder wheels. Remove it, or clean it.

Be sure to remove the power cord before attempting to clean, the wheels can easily chomp off your finger!!!
