What to do if the add water light stays on?

Check to make sure that the valve just before the bell-shaped pressure reducing fill valve is open. If it is open, then pull the fast fill lever on the fill valve. If the boiler will not fill, the fill valve must be replaced.

How do I get water to go only into tank?

im not sure of your exact question here , im guessing here but are u saying the water wont fill the water heater when supply valve is on , if im right and this is ur question , then try opening a hot water tap somewhere else in house the air that is trapped should be expelled from open tap safely into sink there and heater should fill

be mindfull to not add power/gas till your sure the water heater has filled this would cause failure of your heat supply device

Ran out of propane ..got propane filled but heater wont come on

It probably has air in the line. You need to be careful, but try to hold in the pilot button for a few seconds until you hear or smell gas. Then, turn it back off for a few minutes to let the air clear and try lighting it again.

I just lit my hot water pilot and filled my water tank, maybe overflowed. now I have soaked carpet in front of the pull out couch right in the middle of my aljo trl. what could do this? where r the tanks...

The water heater may be cracked and have to be replaced. Look for a leak from the tank. Always fill the tank before lighting the pilot light if you don't there is a possibility that you could damage the tank.

How do I drain the tank for maintainence?

Turn the gas valve to pilot and leave it there. This way the pilot will stay on but it wont try to heat and you dont have to re light the pilot. Turn off the water supply valve to the heater. Open the drain valve at the bottom of the heater and hold the lever open on the pop off valve towards the top of the tank. This will allow air into the tank and it will drain faster. If there is not a floor drain nearby you can hook a garden hose to the drain valve. When you are finished do not turn the gas valve back on until the heater is full of water. Open sink faucets when filling tank with water to avoid excess pressure.
