Battery goes flat in 2 days without use

I find that if I don't drive every day the battery goes flat. I have changed the battery, alternator, starter and when I measure the current flow between the positive terminal on the battery and the disconnected cable ...the reading is .470 amp...the book suggests maximum drop of .050 amp.
I pulled the fuses one at a time till the ECU fuse/relay indicated as the culprit...but there are many things on that circuit such as the alternator...is the excitation circuit for the alternator to blame?

2007 Ford Explorer (Eddie Bauer) Does anybody know what's wrong?

Anon (no miles odometer told)
the starter is dead?
if yes say so clearly,
starter silent, clicks, chatters or is 100% dead. silent.
starter dead has 6 causes (plus Alternator tests too)
engine dead up to 50 (valve springs broken of 24 there?)
step 1 is check fuses
#2 the jumper cable the battery and crank it over?
the new battery is now dead. discharged from excessive cranking,or learn to keep the battery charged until it starts again. once started we do alternator tests, 13v to 15vdc running at lugs of battery.
the engine shut off driving,? on the fly driving alternator bad
or fuses to it blown.
learn to use a voltmeter at the battery cranking
11vdc is par, CRANKING less means battery is weak or bad or simply discharged. a 2man test,1 cranks other measures battery lugs. all 4 lugs tight, and cleaned of rust.
2cables = 4 lugs. to fail.

we use tools and meters and tests to find what is wrong

what engine
4.0 L Cologne SOHC V6
4.6 L Modular 24-valve V8
?>??????/
VIN #8 code ?

cam chain failure?'
scans show cam timing off?

the driving to work stall sure can be the alternator dead
or just 16 year old bad spark plugs?
or 16 year old COP boots bad, sure the are that old
filters bad? clogged.
my guess (never accurate) guessing. is
when driving to work, the GEN/CHARGE/BATTERY
lamp in cluster was glowing and this is why it stalled
then didnt do the jumper cable jump starte
and see OMG all is good but the ALT /gen is dead.
and stalls again in say 1 hours, driving and battery is dead again , wash wear repeat.

2000 Cavalier 2.2: Put in new starter. 2 days & it

The battery and alternator may have been ok.
You have a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery to protect it. If you have battery voltage at the battery post and not at the alternator post, there is a break in that circuit.
If the battery cable goes to the starter, the alternator wire may go from there and that could be where the fuseable link is.
Fuseable links are special thin wires that act like fuses.

1997 ford escort battery new battery dead overnight no electrical works no blown fuses jump start and cables start to melt will push start and run

Check battery cables are correct ! Prime suspect here ! Alternator may be damaged and shorting .. Don't drive any car that will melt jumper cables ! Something very basic wrong here.

I have a 1997 Ford taurus GL. Decided not to start a few days ago so bought a new battery. Ran okay for a couple of days then wouldn't start, but did so with a jump. Now jumping it does nothing and...

It's the alternator...it is not keeping your battery charged. You can remove it and take it to a local parts store and they will test it for free.

My car keeps dying and won't restart until I charge the battery again. Then, when I drive during the day there are no problems. When I drive at night using the headlights it will die within a short period...

Travis,

Thsi way you will keep paying me $10 everytime your battery goes dead. Please have your car alternator checked and repaired as it is not charging the battery because of which the battery runs low and the cars stops. Gas cars need a battery to run on, unlike diesel ones that need battery only to start. They can also be push started if the battery is dead. petrol card cant run without the battery. So, the answer lies in driving to the electrician and getting the alternator repaired.

Just replaced the battery and starter in my Beetle two days ago. This morning i go to drive it and the battery light comes on and so does the ABS light. Then it dies. What is wrong with it??

Ok , You need to check the wiring at the starter motor, there should be a heavy red wire going from the starter motor (battery side terminal on solenoid post) to the Alternator , This would explain your not charging and eventualy not starting. They use the starter solenoid post as a connector for the battery to Alternator. Let's know how it goes for ya .

93 won t start, clicking when i try to start... it started after sitting for a few days than now it won t don t know if its my starter battery or alternator

I would change all three. alittle expensive, but on this old of a vehicle I would not waste time and trouble. if this doesnt work then maybe some ignition problems. But i would guess that battery, starter, alternator, should do the trick

Vehicle starts, howwever transmition does not shift.

as soon as you say that the battery goes flat it pins one thing at me
your alternator
most cars these days run from the alternator and not from the battery
this can stop warning light ans wipers etc
it also charges the battery while driving
however it dose not explain the transition not shifting into gear
change the alternator and let me know what happens
