The DVR unit still have power and display functions on the DVR small LED screen indicator on the DVR unit correct? And the DVR unit have not been in used for awhile and alway been plug in the power outlet for power like 24/7 hrs for power correct?Yes to all these questions, possible the DVR unit have software lockup or power glities some where before, possible the DVR unit have lockup and looping the software firmware of DVR unit not responding correctly for to the DVR unit to work or responding to any screen display functions.Tries unplugging the DVR unit for like about an hour and plugging power it back in for the DVR unit for the software to reboot itself.90 to 95% the unit will work again as u first got the DVR unit.
Have you tried rebooting the DVR and removing the card that came with the DVR if its one that was provided to by one of the satellite company's such as Directv or Dish.
More than likely, the internal hard drive has failed. I have had this happen to me. I would first do a hard reset, that is unplugging the unit and leaving it unplugged for at least 20 sec. Plug the unit back in, and let it power up. This will take a few minutes to locate the satellites and download the guide. If you still cannot use the DVR after a hard reset, most likely the hard drive is a goner. You can still use the reciever to watch T.V., but you will not be able to record. There is no point in trying to replace the drive because it would cost you more than you would spend to replace it.
Assuming that there is no loss of signal detected by the system and an 015 message being presented onscreen and that you have adequate record time available than your hardrive in the receiver is almost gone. You will need to have the receiver replaced. When this is done you will lose all recorded programs. The Dish Vip series of receivers offer a USB port that can be used to either expand the recording capacity of a DVR receiver with an external hardrive or if you get a non dvr unit e.g. 211, 222 you can eliminate the DVR fee each month by turning the option on for the external hardrive at a one time fee of 39.99. This will save you money by not paying the dvr fee anymore and alleviate having your recordings being lost if the receiver ever goes bad. I hope this assists you and thanks for using Fix Ya.
it sounds like its going to be corrupted but to keep this from happening again you shoud do a hard reset which is unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging back in
when tech support says they've never heard of a problem like this they are either inexperienced or lying. there was most likely a small power surge that caused it to reset like that. if the problem persists, insist on a replacement reciever and consider getting a computer surge protector with a small battery back-up.
