in the engine --- failed big end or main bearings

You need the right equipment and knowledge to do this job there are a lot of cables wires etc that need to be removed before the gearbox can be loosened and removed.
There are also a lot of special tools required and the job is best done on a ramp or pit to gain access.
Trying to do this on the ground would be difficult and very dangerous also the engine needs to be suspended when the gearbox mounts are removed.
It is impossible to remove the clutch pressure plate, plate and hydraulic bearing on the C4 without removing the gearbox.
Take it to a garage/ clutch specialist.

man, u jus gotta purchase a repair manual for $30!!...don't know y people r so reluctant about purchasing a repair manual!!...you always get ur money back usually on the 1st repair job!!..buy a repair manual for $30 or pay the garage $300 or more!!

Using a power probe or a test light, you have to check to see if you have power running to the clutch first. If yes, then the wire to the clutch is usually grounded to the compressor itself, so you find it by working backwards from the ground. Hope this helps.

Pulley is bolted to the water pump. If the pump shaft failed you need to replace the pump. If you have a clutch on the fan, and that failed, providing that the pump shaft is not loose or binding and pump is not leaking, you can replace the clutch (don't re-use fan if it bent when it came off) The clutch is somewhat easier to replace than is the pump. Depending upon your level of experience, it's not a really difficult job, but I recommend you get a manual (haynes, chilton etc) to guide you through the job.(too long to write out here). If you run into any specific problem while doing the job, we're here to help.
If it overheated when pulley came off, change the thermostat as well...once overheated therm becomes unreliable.

UNFORTUATELY ITS NOT A EASY JOB TO DO AS YOU HAVE TO REMOVE SUBFRAME TO GET GEARBOX OUT & PUTTING GEARBOX & SUBFRAME IN YOU NEED LINING UP TOOL FOR SUBFRAME.YOU ALSO NEED ACCESS TO A TWO POST RAMP HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

First congratulations on buying a camaro. If you have the clutch replaced, cost is in the $500. range. Can you do it yourself depends on several factors. The transmission weighs around 75 pounds. Do yo have a hoist or going to do it on the ground? Are you mechanically inclined enogh to tackle the job? It is an easy straight forward job if you know what you are doing or can have someone help.

8-10 hrs is more accurate, call around to other repair shops and ask what the flat rate time is for a clutch change on your make and model, most clutch jobs run around $600-800.
