bought a new router and have been unable to get it to work.
running XP and the other equip all works when using another router.
unable to get on the net wirelessly or through ethernet cable.
no installation CD came with the router, do I need to install anything to get it to work?
All the LED's on the front appear correct.
The router is seen by the PC when connected but cannot get the router to pass the internet signals through it.
any suggestions?
-   I purchased a new Linksys router. I ran the install wizard and followed all the steps. When I got to the end, I received an error message to the effect that my computer appeared to be connected to another router. I was asked if I wanted to update or cancel. I tried both versions, and neither worked.
Right now, I have an ethernet cable connecting my modem to the new router. I have a second ethernet cable going from my wireless laptop to port 1 on the router. (This was one of the install wizard's last steps. It said this connection was temporary and was needed for the installation.)
When I disconnect the ethernet cable from my laptop, I lose my wired Internet connection. I am unable to connect wirelessly.
-   I have tried to configure Wireless G router for an existing Tiscali account for a new Vista Laptop. I have configured all parameters as far as I can see, including ISP Username and Password. I cannot get a connected status. I did get a connection briefly when I ammended the connection type from PPPOE to PPPOA and encapsulation as LLC, but when I save/reboot the encapsulation defaults to MFLUX (or something similar) and the connection is lost... Any ideas?-   mokeytone
To setup your router first check.. Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online, to setup connection.. Step 1: Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port. Step 2: Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4). NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3. Step 3: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet. Step 4: check if you are able to go online wired.. if not your router has to be configured first, to config your router i need some more information your internet service providers (isp)name , and how many computers do u have totally.. let me no know in case if you have any problems ...
