You are correct so far.

This is a perfect example of using deductive reasoning based on intelligent thought.

'Armed' with that I can see you will go far in life.

Gateway Support > Gateway 500GR Desktop PC > Main Support page,

http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/3724/3724nv.shtml

Click on Components in the list.
Scroll down. Under the bold black heading - Motherboards - click on

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

In the photo the Front Panel header is marked by the letter S.

Let's go to Intel Support, and download the Product Guide for an Intel D915GAV motherboard,

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-012048.htm

Click on the blue -
Intel Desktop Board D915GAV Product Guide - (English) PDF
Scroll your mouse cursor to the bottom/middle of the page, to bring the 'ghosted out' navigation guide into view.

Click on the Adobe PDF icon to the far right.
(When you hover your mouse cursor over it, "Show Adobe Reader toolbar" is briefly shown)

Where can i place in my motherboard power & reset jumper, i need diagram of my motherboard

For any desktop computer using Windows:

The main power cable coming from the Power Supply, is an ATX main power cable.

It is the power cable with the longest connector.
It will either be a 20-pin, or a 24-pin connector.

IF, this is directly towards an eMachine T2893 Desktop PC, it uses an Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

Also note that eMachines Support > Specifications, states the T2893 uses an Intel 845GV motherboard chipset,
( Chipset ),

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/PC/eMac/4176/4176sp5.shtml

Info on the Intel 845GV chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

This is the download link for the motherboard manual, for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard,

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845gvsr/sb/cs-008823.htm

Scroll down, and click on the blue -
Intel Desktop Board D845GVSR Product Guide (PDF)

The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.

{ 10 seconds, fully loaded. Adobe Reader 10 (X), and medium speed DSL connection }

The plastic front of your desktop computer is the Front Panel.

The rectangular area of pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header. (Sometimes abbreviated FP1 on the motherboard )

Looking at your motherboard as it's installed in the computer case, the Processor is to the Top, Ram Memory to the Right, and the long white PCI slots to the Bottom.

The Front Panel header is on the Bottom of the motherboard, under the CMOS round battery.

There are two rows of pins.
4 across the top, and 5 across the bottom.
{ Top row 4 pins, space
Bottom row 5 pins }

The Top row of pins are numbered Even.
The Bottom row of pins are numbered Odd.

Starting from the Left side of the header going to the right, on the Top row;
{ Left side of the motherboard going towards the right side of the motherboard }

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is No pin 10.

Starting from the Left side of the header going to the right, on the Bottom row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the harddrive LED light is dim when operating, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch. IF a reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is for 5 Volt (DC) power. Not used.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

To the right, and up, is the BIOS Configuration Jumper Block.
3 pins.
Pin 1 is towards the CMOS battery.

Normal default is the jumper is on Pins 1 and 2.
To configure it is placed on Pins 2 and 3, BUT in a proper method.
Read on Page 37.

Connecting front panel wiring to INTEL 845GRG Motherboard

Hello davideiker1, the Intel D845GRG MB manual is shared with another Intel board. (D845GBV MB). Go to this Intel site & download the D845GRG manual; http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845grg/sb/cs-008873.htm You'll need Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe from this link; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
See page 9 for motherboard layout.
The front panel connectors are shown on page 68, see item C.
On page 69 is, Table 31 shows the pin assignments for the front panel header. Front Panel Header (J9G1).
Pin 1 is power for the hard disk drive led, pin-3 is negative for the hard disk drive. Wire colors coming from the case are important. Look at all of the front case wires. The common color for each 2-pin connector will be ground. In most cases the ground wire is white, except for the internal speaker. Ground for the speaker is normally black. (This motherboards speaker is built into the MB, no hook up is needed).
Pin number 2 is positive for the case power led which lights up as green. Pin 4 is negative for the power led.
The reset switch is a bit different. Pin 5 is negative & pin 9 is positive, however if your case uses a two pin connector than connect pin 7 as ground & pin 9 for positive. The On/Off switch, pin 6 is positive & pin 8 is negative.
If this manual is not what you see on the MB, please advise.

Good luck davideiker1!

Front pannel connection on the mother board d815eea2 motherboard

Hi Billy, please use the manual to help guide you. Turn to page 33. If you no longer have the user manual please download it from this link: http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d865gvhz/sb/c70845001.pdf
You will need adobe reader to view the manual. You can down load adobe for free at this link:
http://www.download.com/Adobe-Reader/3000-2378_4-10000062.html?hhTest=1
Or directly from Adobe. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

On pg. 3 is a picture of the motherboard's front panel pin connections. Item "C". (Front Panel pin to case LED's).
Armed with this information (Pictures), you can plainly see the pin numbers.
Page 4 shows you which is positive + & which is negative - pins.
Do not be fooled by the manual name. Intel often groups like motherboards into one manual. This manual does cover Intel's D865GV & D865GVHV motherboard. The second toughest thing to do is find which case wires or positive & which are negative.
This changes from case to case. Look at all your front panel wires. Most common ground is white in color. Positive wires are colored except internal case's speaker 2 wire. Black is negative.

Good luck Billy!
Hope you find this helpful.

Looking at page 85 in you're user manual. The 15 pin jumper block. Starting at Pin 1 (Hard drive LED) is positive + & pin 3 is ground -. Next, Power LED, Pin 2 is + & pin 4 is ground - .
Letter C, is for the reset switch, Pin 5 is + & pin 7 is - .
Power on/off switch, pin 6 is + & pin 8 is - .
The letter I is used for the internal speaker. The positive pin number 16 & ground pin number 10, letter G. If you need the manual you can download it from this link.
