Hi, I have a black sony KV32wf1u that I am hoping to sell but i am not sure whether this would be classed as a widescreen tv or not. Coulkd you help me pleased

SONY TRINITRON 32" KV-32WF1U, widescreen
SONY TRINITRON 32" KV-32WF1U, widescreen television with remote control, teletext, SCART connections.

That ad says wide screen.
Wide screen usually meant 16 X 9 aspect ratio, which I take it is your screen.
Tes, go for it, call it wide screen.

The pictures are too wide all people look fat

You most likely have a wide screen and the screen resolution needs to be adjusted to suit the monitor.
Go to the Control Panel - Display and adjust the screen resolution until you get a normal image and correct screen aspect screen ratio. Start with a screen resolution of 1024X768 and gradually increase it until you get an image that suits your screen.

Distorted images due to wide screen

Hi
Your entire desktop is probably stretched left to right.
You need to adjust the resolution of your computers video card in the display properties to one that the widescreen will accept correctly.
There is a chance that your video card may not have the correct resolutions available. If this is the case then you may be stuck with this view until you change coputers or video cards.
to get to display properties based on win2k or xp
Right click in the center of your desktop, choose properties, go to settings and there you should see the resolutions available. Try different ones till you find a good one, you may have to settle for one that is close to your monitors setup if the exact one isn't available.
If using a laptop with a standard screen with the wide monitor, you may need to disable the laptop screen and use just the monitor to get the correct resolution on the monitor.

Wide screen lcd simple question.

Hi pooing stone,

You may sometimes find that even with a television referred to as “widescreen,” widescreen movies still have letterboxing.

This is likely because the movie you are playing is still in the ratio used at a theater. While most televisions are 4:3 for the more square-type or 16:9 for widescreen, a theater screen is much wider still. Unless the movie has been reformatted specifically to 16:9 for your television, you will either see letterboxing or lose portions of the picture by zooming in.

If a movie is available in several ratios, I suggest thinking of all the options before buying. Although purchasing a movie reformatted to 16:9 will prevent the black bars, purchasing it without any reformatting of the size will prevent you losing part of the picture.

FYI: It is very common with Blu-Ray Discs that widescreen means original size, not 16:9.

Thank you,
Jason,

Philips game trouble

When your game first loads. Enter the games settings and adjust the screen resoultion to match your wide screen monitor. If you can't get that far than hook up that other monitor. Load the game & enter it's screen settings (display) & adjust the resoultion. Your new monitor is wide screen. Your game needs to match the wide screen as well.

Good Luck!

Coloured line about 3 cm wide down right side of screen ACER 1640 widescreen laptop

The only other thing that can be done to check that it's not a software problem is to go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look down the list for 'Display Adapters' and click the '+' sign and right click and select uninstal. Restart the laptop and the graphics adapter will be installed automatically and the driver installed. see if there is any change. To find out if it is a driver fault, press F8 on startup and select 'Start Windows In Safe Mode', this will boot the laptop without the graphics driver (VGA mode, all the icons will be large sized), so if the screen stays the same you know it's not the driver. If none of above fix the fault then the screen is faulty.

Widescreen reset

Go to the control panel and click display and reset it the way you want it. You may have to do this everytime you play your game.
