Yes it can. but the cinemate is designed to connect directly to your tv. the only advantage to using an amp is to get more inputs.

If your sound system has an optical input, then use the TVs optical out socket and connect the two.

If the sound system just red & white phono/RCA sockets, or a 3.5mm jack then you need an optical to RCA convertor box. This will change digital into something that a conventional sound system can understand.

Here's the right type of box from Amazon

How do i connect my surround sound, as i can not find a audio output connector in the back of the tv.

If you have no audio output on the tv at all then you may have a problem, look to see if you can connect straight from your dvd/vhs/sky to the amp, you may be able to get success that way, most equipment has at least a twin phono output (red and white sockets) or maybe even a toslink optical port if your amplifier supports it. double check your tv and instruction book as I would be surprised if you have no audio output at all.

Last ditch scenario, you could always get a headphone to twin phono lead (very cheap) and connect frm the headphone socket on the tv into your amp, this way any sound going into your tv including the built in tuner, will go to your amp.

The phono solutions will only give you stereo sound though and you will have to see if your amp can supply you with psuedo surround.

Hope you guys can help... I have a laptop Karaoke system. I connect from laptop to 6 channel mixer to speakers. I use a stereo phono to RCA from laptop to mixer. I am experiencing a buzz coming through...

Yep! Get a decent audio interface that attaches to the PC with a USB connection and uses BALANCED lines to your mixer. I use a UA-25EX Roland/cakewalk as an example. (about $200 and there are cheaper units such as M-Audio Fast Track MKII ) Note these interfaces BOTH record and playback with two channels for stereo.
Essentially the audio board that is in PC's and Laptops are too near the switching noise of the processor and some of that is just bound to get into the audio lines as they don't even have balanced audio lines from the computers. Make sure you use either TRS or XLR balanced cables from whatever interface you get. Also connect ALL interconnected equipment to the same power source or receptacle. You can try to reduce the buzz with the mixer EQ's with what you have, but that sacrifices audio quality.

I have a KLH SW-90 amp. When I plug in the RCA plugs I don't get any sound to the Satelight speakers. Is this a sub amp? Do I need to hook up the high input wires to make the satelight speakers work?

I have the same amp. there a two ways to use it: The phono plug inputs are low level, are for use as an amplifier only, and their only output is the subwoofer output. In this case, any stereo satellite speakers would be driven directly from your stereo amp.
The high level inputs are meant to be driven as the same as speakers from your stereo amp. A circuit inside samples the bass and directs it to the sub amp and output. this same circut passes unamplified outputs to the satellite outputs. PM me at moestevens@cox.net if you need further info.

Hook up speakers to 32 inch lcd hdtv

"Line" level audio output is available at the audio output phono jacks at the top of the rear panel, but not speaker-level output. So, you'll need an amplifier to use in conjunction with your external speakers. (An alternative would be "powered" or "amplified" speakers that have their own amplifier, but often are less satisfactory acoustically). You don't necessarily need to get a full-fledged "receiver" with multiple in's & out's... I simply used an inexpensive stereo amplifier.

Connect the "Audio L - R" jacks on the rear of the set to the "line" or "aux" inputs on your chosen amplifier and speakers. If you go into the set's Menu - Option - Output Select and set it to "Variable", the internal speakers will be disabled, and you can control the volume (and muting) of the audio sent to the amplifier, and still have "armchair" control of the volume as before... but now with better stereo!

Trying to hook new amp to old jukebox??? 1963 Rockola

Hi Randy,

I take it that the output from the jukebox is mono (only a signal and screen cable) and the connection to the amplifier is a phono plug. You could make up a cable by using a phono inline socket and two phono plugs. I would think that you could purchase one from your local electronic store. If you make one up it should be made using a screened cable.

Connecting a turn table to a micro stereo system

You will need the following to connect this to that system:

1) Phono Pre-amp
2) 3.5mm to RCA adapter or 3.5mm 'Y' cable to RCA
3) Turntable

Your turntable will connect to the Phono Pre-Amp input. This pre-amp will also have an output. This output is RCA, from here you connect to your system using the 3.5mm adapter or cable.

That's it.
