I have a gateway laptop....thier is yellow

Okay, the drivers might have failed. Try going to device manager by clicking on start at bottom left (assuming you're not in win8) Then right click on "My Computer" then click on "properties" then click on "Device Manager". under "Mice and other pointing devices" is there an icon with a yellow triangle and an exclamtion mark? if so right click and choose "update driver software"

The yellow question mark tells that the drivers are not installed. Try uninstalling them and re-intalling them.

the drivers can be downloaded from internet from the HP's website. GOOGLE your laptops name with driver and it would show up.

does the webcam show up in device manager with a yellow exclaimation mark? If it isn't in there at all, I wonder if it can be disabled in the BIOS perhaps?

There might be a problem w/ your IP address or DNS server, try to open LOCAL AREA NETWORK CONNECTION STATUS in your laptop running xp, click support/details, Then copy the DNS server address and alternative dns server address.

open your vista go to Network Connection/LAN properties, then double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP, mark obtain ip address automatically, then the lower side Mark USE THE FOLLOWING SEVER ADDRESS then paste the dns server address which you copied from xp laptop. same w/ alternate dns server, and then click OK. DONE.
JUST TRY IF ITS HELP FULL.

goto start type in device manager and click on device manager if there is any yellow exclamation marks right click on it and delete it and check the box to delete drivers.
also under Universal serial bus look for the web cam and or imaging devices and uninstall and delete drivers and restart the notebook it will detect and reinstall drivers for the web cam.

Basically if we can see the yellow question mark in device manager it means the driver of that hardware are not installed. To fix that problem you need to install the driver. The driver of that are the same to the motherboard driver. I know that you have a driver of that motherboard because you are the owner. Load the motherboard CD driver in you laptop and install follow the instruction there. If your CD driver is lost you can download it in internet. Visit the site of your laptop brand its better that you will know what is the model of you laptop for easy to search.

Window Vista- Go To Control Panel, then go to Mobile PC, then Window Mobility Center, then go to the top right of the mobility center and click on Turn Wireless On
