Replacing broken fan on my Kirby g6. trying to remove the old one. wrenches, bloodied fingers, and the darn thing's still on there. any ideas?
Had no problem taking the vacuum apart to get at the old and broken fan...and after removing the spindle front...worked like crazy to get the old fan off. much of it is broken off...but the rest is simply frozen. frankly I'm at my witless end. especially after reading the goofy answer from the guy below. what's THAT all about?

After treatment products Nuviante that would stop the balding and prompt re growth. After going through a long list of these products I finally found success and now have a full head of healthy locks.
I'm sorry udharja...am I missing something crucial? does the act of re-growing hair relate in ANY way to a fan I'm attempting to remove from my vacuum? just in case there's a strange correlation..i peered into the mirror, and by golly all my hair is perching atop my head. the fan, however, is still frozen onto my Kirby g6.I'm sorry udharja...am I missing something crucial? does the act of re-growing hair relate in ANY way to a fan I'm attempting to remove from my vacuum? just in case there's a strange correlation..i peered into the mirror, and by golly all my hair is perching atop my head. the fan, however, is still frozen onto my Kirby g6.

Replacing a broken fan in a Kirby is not an easy job. You have to take off the handle, the top cover, the front piece covering the fan and then stick a wrench down onto the motor shaft to hold the shaft tight while you stick an awl or small screwdriver into the hole on the spindle sticking out the front of the vacuum. Turn the spindle to remove it so you can remove the fan. Install the new fan and reassemble the vacuum.
If the brushead is removed, there is a safety switch which prevent the machine from operating if the brushead is removed or not installed correctly.Either this switch or the main power switch could be the culprit,as well as the cord.
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=688060 Generic problem for all Vacuums I need to replace the Posted by shawn81 on Jun 20, 2008 I need to replace the belt on my Kirby g6 2000 how do I do it Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Kirby has a belt hook on the inside of the bell housing and 1st you need to release the old belt by turning the dial in front of the bell housing counter clock wise to get the old belt off. Some Kirby vacuums the entire bell housing comes off and makes it fairly simple but the process and the format to change the belt is the same. The brushroll has screws on each end and the screw heads need to be facing down on each side, so remove of drop down one side of the brush and slide the belt onto the middle of the brushroll then re-insert the brushroll, screws head facing down, then use the Kirby dial to hook the belt and then dial the belt onto the Kirby fan pulley and then you should be done.
