Check the settings of your touchpad pointing device program of your DELL, to minimize the mouse sensitivity.

Dell pc pointer jumps while and after typing

Make sure your fingers/palms aren't grazing the touchpad as you're typing. What's probably happening is your hands are too close to the touchpad, making the computer think you're using the mouse, and thus jumping the cursor around.

Pointer on laptop jumps to a different line while typing.

This may be caused by weak batteries, or interference by some nearby appliance (the worst case is another wireless mouse, of course: happened all the time in an office with six identical workstations, even to the two that were beyond a wall. But also wireless - not cellular - phones may interfere). Also the positions of receiver and mouse may play a part. Once sure the batteries work, try placing the receiver and mouse in different positions and see if it helps.
Otherwise, the receiver antenna could be defective.

Freezing or Jumping Mouse Pointer

This could happen if the PS/2 connector on the motherboard is defective, or if there is a failing component in the PS/2 circuitry on the motherboard.
Could also be due to loose solder points at the PS/2 connector.
This needs to be checked by a qualified technician.

Phrases jump to another line

Think what you are doing is tapping the mouse pad with your thumb, and moving your typing position. It use to happen to me all the time until I purchased an HP laptop that had a mouse shut off button on it.

All you have to do is pick up your thumbs when typing. Feels strange, but only to prevent your situation.

Cursor(pointer) cannot be moved by using touchpad but possibe wit

Hi,

This happens to me also. Check whether the touchpad is enabled (laptops do have an option of enabling / disabling the touchpad). Secondly, you can try reinstalling the touchpad driver. Uninstall and then re-install the driver. Re-boot the system. Try using the touchpad.

Hope this helps., if so, rate me.. thanks - billa
