the system you have is an old system and DELL doesn't manufacture it any more.
the thing is that INSPIRON 1000 is a system in which you cannot take out anything as its bit complicated.
as its turning hot wot you can do is use a air compressed can and try cleaning areas near vents
if it doesn't fixes the problem try logging on to

punchin your system's service tag
you will get list of drivers you have to download and install BIOS from that list
when you run that BIOS update make sure that the battery is in and ac adapter is plugged in
and still if it doesn't fix the problem get the system board,fan and heatsink assembly replaced and offcourse cd drive too.
