At random, the F1 code shows and it beeps and I can't get it to stop beeping- what's wrong with this. It came with the house and could be 10 or so years old!

After oven cleaning F2 appears and I can not open door on old Magic Chef electric range?

Hi charleybead,

F2 error appears when the Oven temperature is too hot. Please check the sensor harness. Replace relay board, if present, or oven temperature sensor (RTD).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My magic chef gas oven showed the F1 code. I tried to self clean the oven and some wires under the cooktop started to melt and smoke.

Hi nelson1999,

F1 error description is a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a magic chef range. I ran the self cleaning on the range. Now when trying to use the oven I get a F1 and a F3 code. I unplugged it for a while to reset and still have the same problem.

F1 Defective touch pad or clock (ERC) Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem. Refer to F1 test at the top of this page for more information. F3 or F4 Shorted or open oven temperature sensor (RTD) Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

An F1 error occurred when self-cleaning. I've

hello there:
On Magic Chef ranges, F1 usually indicated a defect in either the keypad or the electronic control. If the error shows when the keypad is disconnected from control, the problem is usually in the control. If the error ceases with the keypad disconnected, the keypad is usually the cause.
On some models the keypad and electronic control are 1 integral part in which case the whole control assembly usually has to be replaced to correct the problem.
: Until you can get this part replaced you can disconnect the ribbon cable from the board and the error should go away can
here is as picture of the part you will need c8db069.gif
:
: disable the beeping? if this is happening
The buzzer circuit may be able to be separated from the rest of the control. If wired to it, the wire(s) may be able to be cut. or removed
hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Mike

Have a magic chef oven, f1 display after self cleaning, stove top works fine, any thoughts

F-1 is a fault code.

Disconnect the power plug or turn range power off at circuit breaker. Wait a couple of minutes, then plug the range in or flip the range circuit breaker to ON.

Oven control beeps & displays any F  code error (for example
F11) - Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press
CLEAR/OFF to clear the display & stop beeping. Reprogram
oven. If fault recurs, record fault number. Press CLEAR/OFF
contact an authorized service agent.
