Cd rom wont open on my acer laptop - Acer (91.47A37.001) CD-ROM Drive

There is a button on the CD-Rom tray on the RH side of the laptop. Push it and wait a few seconds, and it will open (see attached image)

The warranty is 1 year. So if you haven't gone pass the date, they will service a faulty DVD-ROM without a problem. Please contact Acer Tech Support.

Please try this :
Open the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class

[to open the registry, vista or 7, navigate to start, then type in regedit, choose from list, right click and say open as administrator. On XP, navigate to start, choose run, type in regedit and hit enter]

Then find the DVD & CD ROM key under above value.
Under the DVD & CD ROM key, find the values UpperFilter & LowerFilter and delete both seperately. Reboot machine and recheck. See below for picture

Is it really a DVD drive? DVD drives can pick both with ease but a CD drive cannot pick DVD's.

yes it is you should be able to purchase one of the website.

plz check in the bios the cd rom is enable, then check the datacables try with a new data cable

if you can get an external cd/dvd drive from a friend, then you could solve the problem.

other solutions would mean that you will reinstall windows again. This takes more time and has a few tricks to be done from a flash drive.

it could be an issue with the IDE controller detecting your CD-ROM have it replaced. this issue happens not only on Acer but on other brands too. It could be because Laptop CD-ROM's are not built tought like Desktop CD-ROM's.

see your rom lock near your cd rom.
then open it.

open cd rom tray.open laptop lcd screen flat, remove the 2 screens on the back of the hinges.carefully remove the bezel(just above the keyboard, with the power buttons etc )from right to left.remove 2 screws securing keyboard.you will see one screw that holds the cd/dvd rom in place.remove screw,pul on tray carefully, cd rom will slide out. replace with new cd rom.
