Try pouring 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker and if it dumps ice , then the water valve or fill tube is the problem . If it does not dump , then the icemaker is the problem , or , freezer is not cold enough . Check your coils under the refrig to make sure they are clean and the fan that cools the compressor is working ( and the freezer fan also ) .

I disconnected the ice maker as they are more problems than what they are worth, I use fill your own trays and dump them in an old egg tray, no more water all over the floor and other many problems ice makers cause, your 2nd option is to buy a new fridge. dig deep they cost.

SOURCE: icemaker

Check the power conection to the ice maker. If that's ok, then I would think the solenoid that controls the water flow has gone bad. Unfortunately, you will likely have to replace the whole ice maker, I don't think they are reparable.

First, are you getting water at the door? If not, the filter is installed wrong or there is some packing on the filter you didn't remove.

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

Remove the water line in the back of refrigerator going into the ice maker - its likely the line froze. Once thawed (about an hour) put the water line back on and cycle the ice maker - you should hear the water go into the ice maker.

Does not make ice

Either the ice maker is not calling for water or the ice maker water valve is not working, there are many different types of water valves so its very dificult to tell you what to do without a model number or picture of the valve, but generaly speaking if you VERY CAREFULLY put 120V to a water valve it should open and alow water to flow, you can try this for the valve that has a water line going to the ice maker and see if it lets water go to the ice maker, sometimes there are two valves that must open, one main valve and then another for either the water dispensor or the ice maker. a better first test might be to test the water valve for resistance across the coil and compair it to another coil and see if its close-ish. also you can test some ice makers and see if they are putting 120V to the water valve by bypassing the bimetal and causing the ice maker to go into a cycle, but again a model number is required to know what kind of ice maker you have., even a picture would help

I just put in a new water valve for my ice maker , water is pumping out of the ice maker inside of frezzer.

Hi,
I would Assume you used the correct valve for the model you have, and If that is the correct valve, your ice maker is calling to power-up the valve. To test this, disconnect the water valve power (two wires) put a meter in them, cycle the ice maker. Count how long the ice maker calls for water. Should be about 5-6 seconds or 2/3 cup of water. You can test this with a meter or a measuring cup under the valve and cycle the ice maker.
If you get too much water then - is the ice maker still calling for water or did the valve not close will be the result.
Good Luck

Water drips from both ends of the ice maker ice maker. Ice maker does not appear to have a crack in. Could you tell me how to fix it? Is a GE model 3 PSC23SHMD BS

Most likely your water control valve=> WR57X10032 Water Control Valve RC This page has great instructions also. Many things can affect your ice maker so I will send this movie about ice maker related problems.

I will put it like this, if you can unplug the ice maker from rear wall of freezer and water continues to flow replace water valve. If only when ice maker is plugged in then the ice maker electronics and replacing the ice maker would be your best bet, Thanks, Sea Breeze

You can check to see if you have water going to the water valve (occasionally they will get plugged up at the tapper water shut off). If you do have water then you need to put 120v to the water valve. You are going to have two valves. One is for drinking and the other is for the ice maker. there are two plugs, one for each valve. Switch them. then push the water dispenser for ten seconds. No water will come out but water should come out of the ice maker. Check the ice maker to see if you have water. If you do then replace the ice maker. If you dont replace the water valve. Dont forget to put the plugs back the way you found them.

No water in ice maker

check water supply
check water valve
check for frozen water tank
check if the ice maker is calling for water by cycling the ice maker (remove cover, put jumper wire between holes marked T and H close door switch and let ice maker advance till it clicks, remove jumper wire, close door and give it several minutes to activate water valve, if it never does you need a new ice maker.
