Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator

Condensation on the outside freezer area

There is a lot of condensation on the left side, top and back of the refrigerator (all around the freezer area). This has caused damage on the wood casing. The technician could not solve the problem. He indicated that he had never seen such a problem. In addition, there is a leak causing the hardwood floor under the refrigerator to get damaged. Help!

Yes, the surface was very cold.

Was this something that Kitchenaid repaired? Was it covered by their warranty?

Condensation occurs on a surface which is colder than its surroundings.

The worst thing is the insulaion in the cabinet is water/ice logged. This would require removing the insulation and refoaming the cabinet.

You may be able to feel if the surface is cold.

I have seen a frig with voids in the insulation cause this problem- same cure- refoam.

Condensation on the outside back of the freezer side of my brand new Frigidaire side by side

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that you are seeing condensation on the rear of your Frigidaire refrigerator, FGHC2331PF. If the unit has been installed near any type of heat source you could see condensation build up. Now if the appliance is not located near a heat source, I would recommend having a technician come out to properly diagnose and repair the refrigerator. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Frozen condensation in freezer

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator has frozen condensation in the freezer area. Typically this will happen if the door is left open, left open for too long, or if the door is not sealing properly. I suggest making sure that the door is closed, as well as not leaving it opened for extended periods of time. When the hot humid air hits the freezer it will cause frost. Also, you might want to check the seal around the door, and make sure it is not damaged in any way. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, please leave your model number in the comment section. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Excessive condensation dripping inside refrigerator

Bonjour,
Some refrigerators have heaters mounted in different places around the unit to take care of condensation. If those heaters don't work, you see drips. Another common cause to much frost/ice build up on the freezer evaporator coils or in the area beneath, below or around the evaporator coils. That's usually a sign of incomplete defrost cycle. Another cause could be broken or shifted insulation that's letting very cold air get to the back side of a partition that has warmer air on the other side. The warmer side drips condensation.
Based on the condenser coil cleaning results and not having any temperature data. In your case I would guess incomplete defrost. That leads to defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost termination thermostat and clogged evaporator drain line. Or some combination of the four.

Water leaks from underneath

Make sure your drainage tube is not plugged.
Check inside the back of your fridge to make sure the little cup that collects condensation from your freezer compartment is not plugged with food or ice.
(I had that happen in my fridge, different model). I had lots of water on the floor of the fridge until I found this solution here on fix-ya.
Also, make sure your fridge is set right for the the humidity levels you have may experience.
Get a hold of the manual for your fridge if you don't have it, and make sure freezer is not too cold.
If you have a lot of condensation on the outside of your door, look inside your freezer and try some different settings.
I'm not sure if this helps at all. Try blowing with a blow dryer on your condensation container area on the inside of the fridge.
I'd love to know if this helped.

My frigidaire refrigerator is sweating on the inside. what should i do? its a one door model with ice maker and freezer on top. i don't remember the model. 5 years old.

High humidly could cause condensation or the magnetic seal could be bad.
A couple of things to try;
The easiest thing to do first is to clean around the rubber seal very good with mild soap and water and the metal which the magnetic rubber seal contacts to seal the door. If you find a crack or a deformation of the seal it will let condensation it the refrigerator.
Does the freezer auto defrost or is a lot of ice bult up around the freezer walls? If so manually defrosted the freezer.
Dripping from the Ice maker water supply?

Condensation on refrigerator front btwn top freezer and refrigerator doors

I have the same problem with my frig in the basement. I get condensation and resulting mold on the top outer surface and related areas. This is from the surface being cold, with resulting outside moist air condensing on the cold surface. Best solution - spray/wipe the surface with a bleach and water solution, let it soak a few minutes, then wipe off with a rag. Add a drop of dishwasher soap to a mixture of roughly 4 parts water to one part bleach. Repeat if necessary. Do this as often as the problem seems to creep up again. Good luck!

The outside metal around the freezer area is very warm.

We were informed that because of a lot of power outages and surges that the freezer was in constant defrost mode. Since the freezer had been in constant defrost for at least 5 days, we were told that the condenser would probably short out. Even though the fridge was 7 years new. We decided it would be cheaper in the long run to get a newer more energy efficient one, because we didn't know what other damage had been done and if fixing everything would just be too expensive and it could quit before everything was fixed.

Delfield Refrigerator/Freezer Condensation forming outside door seals

I would expect at the very least a heater circuit around the freezer door. Some of the commercial units also have sprung doors to keep the doors firmly shut which you could check by opening the doors. Door heater circuits are normally very reliable and it would be worth checking the voltage is getting to them, they are also a pain to change out. Hope this helps.
