A hard drive is making some noise is a sign of a drive that is already getting bad, so it will be better for you now to do a back up on all of your file from that hard drive so if in case it goes down already you have all the files save....

If the hard drive is making a clicking noise and it won't boot up the the hard disk is faulty. If it is making noises and you can still access the files on the hard disk, then you should save/backup your data ASAP to and external hard drive, USB memory stick, or burn to a CD etc. before the hard drive fails.

The hard drive making noises is one of the first signs of it dying - I would highly recommend buying an external hard drive to back up all of your important documents as well as purchasing a replacement drive for that computer or sending it in for repairs if its under one year. Please note you must back up the hard drive before sending it in for repairs because they don't care about your files and will just throw your old hard drive out. For the external hard drive I would suggest any Western Digital - those last a lifetime and are affordable. Good luck, and if this didn't answer your problem please leave a comment and I will get back to it =)

An additional note, the way the hard drive works is it has plates on the inside which hole data and are read by having a sensor spin around. If the sensor is hitting the plates * which makes a noise your hard drive is constantly getting whacked on the most crucial part and data loss will appear. A good hard drive shouldn't make any noise.

It dosen't works it make a sound like(tic tic tic about 5 second and will shut down)

HDD , if the power is good, is it? full spec voltage.
most FAST 1tb drives need a power pack,
has a 7 year warranty their home page states, so why not use that.
no HDD should make load noises, only ear close whiling sound.
soft ear close tics very very quiet is normal, load , NEVER.
if it makes noise say at arms distances that is bad.
2 causes:
1: the power pack is not plugged in, or missing or wrong pack used? (never run HDD with missing pack or wrong one.
2: drive bad. (bad drives click, when bad)
it can be the drive bad, or the power regulator toasted.

7 years. is a very long time. read the rules on your warr, card.

do not ever block the cooling slots of any HDD, case. ever.
or it will overheat, all fast drives can overheat, easy.
make sure that dont happen.

Aspire 5535 making noise when booting up

After pressing the power button and initiating the bootstrap process, several different pieces of hardware in your computer are powering up which could be the cause of this noise.

In a laptop of the make and model you're using I highly suspect the noise is emanating from the left side of the laptop, implicating either the exhaust fan's ball bearings or the main motor on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Acer laptops almost always have their Central Processing Units (CPUs) under the upper-left part of the keyboard panel, as seen from above. They also tend strongly to placing the HDD beneath the touch-pad portion of the "palm" panel, beneath the area just left of the actual touch-pad.

Quite recently I had a client troubled by the same noise on start-up, and although it was an Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-571-33VT), they still had the same basic design with the HDD and CPU placed as I described above. That particular case of start-up noise turned out to not really be as much of a problem as an annoying false alarm caused by poor quality shock-absorbers on the HDD removable tray or housing into which the HDD is secured by four small screws.

From this experience and from using a number of Acer laptops (and a similarly designed Compaq Presario C700) personally over the last few years, my best recommendation is to ignore the noise so long as you do not experience automatic shutdowns due to the CPU overheating or the accumulation of bad sectors on your HDD.

Laptop can not boot,noisy hdd

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

It is obvious that the hdd of your laptop is defective. The HDD has some bad sectors which is most likely beyond repairs.

You need to replace the HDD of your laptop because the noise you are hearing is an indication that the HDD is defective.

I hope the above information is clear. If not clear, please let me know.

Regards.

Deskstar 1TB SATA started making ''uncommon'' noises. Now I can't find or access any of the data on the drive. It starts making noise as soon as I put power to it(Heads crashing???)!

it seems ur hdd is old, while the pc is powered on, bring ur ear closer to the hdd n make sure that it does not make any noise (like 'tuk tuk' or 'kirr kirr')..in such case itz probably gone bad n need to b replaced..

Dell 1545 not detecting my harddrive

this problem to an i/o device happens mostly when itz defective/faulty..
check the following:
(to take data backups u gotta connect the hdd to another pc/laptop, for such cases a hdd-case is available in the local spare market, it'll make behave ur hdd to act as an external removable drive)....
1)if ur hdd is making any humming noise (like 'tic tic' or 'kirr kirr')..if so it is likely to be replaced..
2)check for bad connections..
3)update/flash the bios..
4)check for firmware update and or raid drivers (as applicable)..

if u r not a professional, try contacting ur system admin/vendor....

Fan running blank screen cant get into bios.was ok now this

Lets not jump to conclusions. Personally I feel that if give it a thorough cleanup without removing the Processor from under the heat sink, clean all the contact points, specially the power connection to your HDD(if its SATA it will make faster noises) and this could be due corrupted OS files too, but if the noise in the HDD persists, then its advisable to replace it if still under warranty, else use any working HDD and check to see if the same thing happens again. Don;t forget to repair your OS first. Also do checkdisk yiur HDD partitions particularly the one where the OS is installed and if it throws uo any bad sectors then the first thing to do is install the OS on a different partion. If it behaves properly then you have to make a desicion regarding repairing/replacing the HDD.....sodeep
