I have select gt power chair, it is only 2 years old but has developed a very troubling squeak.

I have greased the inside of the rims and tires to make sure they were not the source of the noise.what else can be done?

Hi James, the squeal, now it can be a bearing running dry or worn in a given area or metal rubbing on dry plastic etc...

Try some silicone grease on the parts that move... beware of shorting anything ... is the noise coming from the end of the motor , e.g the brake ?

Regards

I need to remove tire?

You will need Socket wrenches, a big ***** Driver and air valve tool if there is a pneumatic tire involved, two 3"-5/16" bolts w/nuts and washers. I like to tip the chair on its side. and loosen the main shaft nut and remove it. Then wiggle the tire back and forth, then lift. If you are lucky it will slide right off. then you can let the air out of your inner tube or go straight to removing the split rim bolts. the ***** driver is used between the rim and tire and pry apart the tire from the rim, work around the the rim until the tire is off on both sides, If this is a foam filled tire then you will need 2 5/16" Bolts w/ nuts and washers replace the tire and line up the hole for the bolts and push the rims together so the long bolts can make it long enough to put the nut on. the nut down a little then put another one on opposite side to pull the wheel in tighten the bolts a little on each side evenly until the original bolts are able to be used to tighten then take out long bolts and install all the rest of the shorter bolts. tighten them up and grease the shaft and put the shaft key in the slot and gently put the wheel on and tighten the shaft nut. Check to see the wheel turns with the shaft. the key can slide out some times Then tip the chair up and see how it drives. Sorry no pictures yet.

My tires squeaks every time I drive what could that be??? I have a 98 Buick Lesabre

if it has hub caps it could be a hub cap creaking on the rim. remove cap and apply a little grease on rim and cap were they come in contact this will stop it. it could also be a dry tire bead, in witch case the tire will have to be removed and the rim cleaned and a sealant put on the rim to stop it.

Has a clicking noise when going up and down hills on right hand side fine on flat surface. All connections are fine, new batteries. Brushes are ok. Reminds me of when the chain is skipping on an old bike.

This can be an aggravating problem with a simple solution. There are keyways on each axle shaft, and what oldtimers call a Woodruff key. That's the piece of metal that forces the wheels to turn with the axle. Try tightening the locknuts. If that doesn't work they can be replaced easily.

Squeaking noise right front ?

not sure what type vehicle we're talking about here, although you can lube up the rack and pinion or grease up your upper, if so equipped, and lower ball joints.

I have a mpv 5 hoveround wheel chair and I now have a flat on the front left tire. How do I raise it up and take the tire off/and put another one on?

Bird If you have help you can tilt the chair to the side of the good tire and place a block under the frame behind the flat tire set it down on the block to lift the flat tire off the ground enough for you to remove the bolt holding the tire on the axle remove the tire assembly and the rim is a split one remove the 4 nuts holing it together and remove the tire and tube to patch the tube then reverse the procedure to get it back together. Put grease or vaseline on the axle before you put the rim back on and then tighten the nut you should be rolling again Hope this helps

I have oil leaking onto the left side tire of my pronto m71 sure step invacare chair. why? thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have a blown seal on your left gearbox. The only permanent solution is to replace the left brake/motor gearbox assembly. Not exactly a do-it-yourself repair. to verify, you can pull the seat off to inspect with a flashlight or tip the chair up at 45 degrees on the right drive wheel to inspect.
In my experience this is a common problem. It may take some time for enough gearbox grease to ooze out and cause the gearbox to fail. If you run the chair inside the house it will get messy very quickly and the grease stains are difficult to remove. If the chair is upwards of 4 or 5 years consider replacing left and right motor/gearbox assemblies. Hope this helps.

Back wheels make a loud clicking noise

Hi. Loud clicking noises from the rear wheels are usually caused by movement of the square steel key that fits into a groove on the axle inside the wheel hub. This is what drives the wheels.
You will probably get a click for each revolution of the wheels.
To fix it, remove the rear wheels and wipe a thin smear of grease on the key and axle, then replace the wheels.
The grease will allow the key to move slightly without making a noise, and help stop it from wearing.
It sometimes helps to also remove the front wheels, and wipe a thin smear of grease onto the front stub axles. There is no key in the front hubs, but the grease helps to prevent the bearings siezing on to the axles.
Good luck. Neil.
