Heres a link to the driver you need. or you can email me and i will send it in an attachment billfox1966@yahoo.com please be sure before you go to install the driver file that ever single thing you are running gets closed out especially messenger programs that have cam chat featrures, if you dont the the driver will appear not to load until you sign out at a later time. please note that while installing the drivers you may get warnings about invalid certificates or even some that say its not specific for xp / or vist whatever your running, but i assure you as ive used this same driver to repair countless others on fixya with emails confirming there success and thanks. you can check my status recor as i am a wizz wich is greater than a master solver.

Camera isn't recognized on my computer what do i do

if your webcam is not working properly (or at all) it is almost certainly a driver issue. However, sometimes computers think they are smarter than we are, and rather than let you install the software that works your camera, the computer will hold it as a device that just isn't working.

I assume you have purchased this camera new, and that you have the software disk that came with it. I also assume that you have predetermined that you have the correct operating system on your computer for the camera.

the following is based on Windows XP (home and pro) and Windows 2000

What we need to do next is start all over. First, we will remove any software that was installed from the disk. From the Start menu, find the Control Panel (if you are using the Classic settings, you will have to find Settings first, then Control Panel.)

In the control panel, find the Add/Remove Programs icon (it should be about the third one). In the programs list, find anything related to the camera (like IBM Camera) and remove it. Restart the computer if asked.

Once that is done, we need to look at the Device Manager to find the non working camera. Find your My Computer icon and RIGHT click on it. From the menu that appears, choose Properties.

With the Properties window open, find the Hardware tab, then the button that says, Device Manger.

With this open, first look for anything with a yellow exclamation mark. If you find it, RIGHT click on it and choose UNINSTALL from the menu.

If you do not find it, look under USB (you may have to click the + to the left of the list). Do you find anything on the list that suggests it is either not working ( ! ) or is a camera (USB IBM Camera)? If so, RIGHT click on it and choose UNINSTALL.

At this point, all traces of the camera should be gone from the computer. Be sure the camera is unplugged, and install the software from the disk. If the system prompts you to plug in the camera, do so; if not, do not.

When the software has been completely installed, including restarts, then plug in your camera. The system should automatically find the drivers and make the camera operational.

Good luck
tony
