Fax says 'phone off hook' Had phone line checked and is ok.

How did you have the phone line checked? Did you just call up the phone company, and they told you it was OK?

Have you tried connecting a regular phone up to the phone line to see if you hear a dial tone?

Are there any other devices connected to this phone line, and are they working?

The phone company could tell you that the line is ok, but there could be a problem with your internal wiring or another device on the line. Take all the devices off this line except for one regular telephone, and see if you have a dial tone. If so, then hook up just the HP and try again.

And make certain you have the phone line connected to the LINE port on the HP , and not the EXT port.

WHat model is the fax machine? Also check to make sure that the phone line and the fax line are not 2 different phone jacks. Also if the phoneline and fax line are on the same jack, make sure to program the fax number into the fax machine. Also, double check if the fax machine has an in and out phone jack that it is in the in jack.

ERROR T82 BIZHUBC280 IMPOSSIBLE TO SEND OR RECEIVE FAX

Check your fax line connection is the FAX line plugged into the Line jack on the copier and NOT THE TELE connector. Must be Line. Take a old phone like a old princess phone and hook it up to the wall get a good dial tone call some one any noise? Have some one call the fax number OK if hooked to the copier get the tradition noise of a fax line, Check the fax line itself use only one with two wires not four, black and yellow only no red and green. Also put on one of the EMI devices on the cable going into the copier cut down on electrical noise. Line can not be digital must be all analog (POT) Plain Old Telephone, have your phone provider check the line.

Will not fax

Hook a phone to the fax line and try to dial out... a fax line is no different than a phone line at your house ,, don't use a multi line phone like the ones at the office use a phone like you would have at the house to hook the the fax line .. If you are able to dial out call someone and check the line for static and pops they can cause the fax not to work either.. Good Luck

Can not receive a fax

What you are experiencing is line loss.
What happens when you run a phone line to a fax with several items attaches is you lose varying signal strengths.
Seems like you should be able to say, ahh a phone line is a phone line. But you are losing one of or all of 3 things.
Either you phone line voltage is low, if its not low, your phone line current is low or you are experiencing Decibel loss.
All those have to be correct in order for the machines circuitry to pick up the call.
It's different dialing out, it just flips a relay to the line, just like you do when you lift your receiver.
On receive mode, It is the impulse from the incoming line that has to be correct to turn on the relay. So, not enough voltage, current or ampllitude. no activation of the components in receive mode.
I know it's not easy, or cheap, but when fax is important, a dedicated line is always the way to go.

Unable to get my Intellifax 775 to receive any fax's

Things to check: Do you have a live phone line? Are you using a dedicated fax line? You can check your fax line by using the feature hook call. Not all machine have them. Or use the hand set. If you have a live phone line now check this. Is you fax set to auto answer? If it is not you need to either find how to set it on the diplay or refer to your owners manual. If this does not work after you have done this then you possibly have a bad modem.
