I was givin this set last night. It had the green lower hoizontal line in a ark I adjusted the the red and blue and hit the touch focus with in an hour the green started acting right then I took the grill off and fine toned all three colors ,it looked like New!.When I turned on the next day the green lines where all screwed up again and there is a (error) in the touch focus. How can I get the green gun back in line.
Jethroe, we had a convergence problem with our 43H71 and after doing some research, found that our problem was the STK392-110 IC (integrated circuits) had gone bad. The fix was a bit tough, since the layout of the boards are different from the 53H71 and hubby had to remove everything to get to the STK392-110 parts, but he managed. We purchased STK392-120 as an upgrade (on E-bay) and replaced the ICs. We turned the TV on, reconverged the colors and VOILA! We had our TV back. These guys on FixYa are awesome!

Re: 43H71 43 in
Look up and read about the convergence amplifiers on this website. I just helped a friend repair his 53H71. We replaced the STK392-110 IC's on the signal board. The shop quoted him $400 for the repair. We replaced them for $35. If you're not comfortable soldering then this might not be a good repair for you to try. Good luck.

I know this set very well---you are saying convergence adjusts ok everywhere? If you understand that the blue is usually de-focused a little----there are only two ways to adjust the focus of each tube-----
1.) Behind the front speaker grill there is an inspection plate---with it removed you will see a small black plastic block with 6 controls on it; it is the MASTER SCREEN/ FOCUS BLOCK
2.) THREE of the controls left to right are Screen controls(red, green and blue) and the other 3 are FOCUS--IT IS ALL black and you need to look close to identify which is focus and which is screen---you are looking for the BLUE focus control(one of the 6)
3.) With the convergence grid on screen cover the RED and GREEN lens in the set and try to adjust the focus of the blue(I presume you know how to put the set into the Convergence mode?
4.) The only other way to adjust the Blue focus is from the back of the set---with the Red and Green lens covered up place a blanket over the top of the set that covers the whole screen--from the back of the set you will note that all three of the black focal lens have a wing nut---with the convergence grid up and only blue lines present(Green and Red lens covered with a cloth) look from behind the set at the grid---loosen the wing nut on the blue lens and slowly slide the lens left or right until the blue has the best focus possible----if it will not adjust with the focal lens or the front focus control you have a circuit problem.

If the screen is out of focus you probably need to adjust the focus on the focus block it is usually located behind the front grill, there are 6 adjustment screws on this block, leave the screen controls along just adjust the red, green, and blue focus screws. When converging a set everything is converged to the green, the blue and red are suppose to come to the green.
First check what color of faint lines comes then reduce Screen Volts in TV of that CRT (tube) Take off lower front cover, speaker grille of TV, there you will see focus control block that has 6 control knobs, upper 3 knobs are focus adjustment of red-green-blue CRTs and lower 3 knobs are screen volt controls for red-green-blue CRTs. Turn screen volt control knob CCW to reduce screen volts of desired CRT. Put TV on any free AV input so screen will be dark enough to adjust screen volts. Thanks.
Most of these sets have a SCREEN/FOCUS block---usually all black with 6 controls----you need to look close at it as one row of 3 will be screen controls---don't touch those----the other 3 will be FOCUS- MARKED in little letters will be r,g,b(red, green blue). TWO ways to adjust the focus: 1. carefully locate the blue focus control and adjust to see if blue will improve in focus. 2. each of the 3 large lens where the picture comes out have a wing nut and a slot--you can loosen the nut and turn the lens---usually best focus that way is if the part that turns is in the middle of the available area to move it.
I should point out that all projection sets intentionally de focus the blue--the lines if blue should be clear but never as perfect as green or red--this is normal.

Typically this is a convergence problem and can be repair relatively easy. Refer to this video to determine if you truly have a convergence problem. Also make sure you use your TV's original remote to make this adjustment.
your screens are not set properly. Try turning up the green and red slightly to see if the set will restore raster. If not try turning thr blue down slightly. Screen controls have to be adjusted by taking voltage measurements while adjusting the G2 (screens)
let me know if you need additional help
The front panel normally has some screws that need to be removed from the inside of the set. You need to remove the back cover first and you should see the screws. Then the panel pops off. Good Luck
your convergence amp ic's./if you want to cheat/align the other two colors and manualy move the green yoke rings on the green picture tube neck so the green cross aligns with the red and blue.,they shuold form white when all three are aligned,on top of each other.
If you have the ability to work on solid state electronics and know how these circuits work, you will need to replace the convergence IC's in this TV set. If you do not, call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
This worked great for me, too; however, I was feeling ballsy and fiddled with the 3 focus adjustments as well. If you can get a solid lettering against a dark screen (like during the credits of a movie), you can fine tune those very easily (mine needed it).
