Sound Drive Problem in ASUS PSGC MX 1333

Hi, I recently bought a Desktop with ASUS PSGC MX 1333 mother board. After Installing Windows XP SP3 I tried installing all the drivers. I encounter problem on installing the Realtek audio device. I googled it and I am able to install it successfully. But the sound is not coming.

When I go to control panel -> Sound and Audio Device properties, it says empty and all the options are disabled.

I am not able to see the speaker icon in the task bar.

In the device manager ''Realteck High Definintion Audio'' is successfully installed and allso ''Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio'' is also successfully installed.

In services.msc the Windows Audio services is running and set as automatic only.

I am not able to diagonize the problem. Could any one please help me.

I am able to uninstall the realtek drivers. Device Manager->right click on Realtek high definition audio and click Uninstall Driver. It says "Failed to uninstall device. The device may be required to boot up the computer".

  1. Remove all previously installed Realtek drivers
  2. Reinstall the UAA driver (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/en-us)
  3. Reboot
  4. Install the Realtek driver again
This is a very common issue with realtek drivers.

There are two ways to handle this. Windows keeps a Device Manager entry for every piece of hardware that's ever been recognized by the system, regardless of whether it is currently present in the machine or was even set up correctly in the first place. The "View Hidden Devices" option in Device Manager won't necessarily show you these "residual" drivers.

    1. You can force it to show you everything by going to My Computer Properties, the Advanced tab, Environment Variables, and adding a new system variable with the name "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES" and a value of 1. Now opening Device Manager and choosing "Show Hidden Devices" really will show you everything. Standard practice at the factory is to use a single image and just move it from model to model, letting it plug and play all the new hardware along the way. This leaves you with an impressive list of hardware still in the Device Manager, but no longer in the system. You also see this to a lesser degree when you restore a system from an image you created for backup purposes. These "residual" drivers can sometimes cause all kinds of weirdness and are best removed by right-clicking on their entry in the Device Manager and choosing "uninstall"

    2. The other options is to boot to Safe Mode and log in as Administrator. Now disable the device. Restart back to Safe Mode and uninstall the Device.
If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Where can i get free ASUS PSGC-MX/1333?

Hey,

I think you are looking for the drivers of P5GC-MX/1333 and not PSGC-MX/1333. If that is true go to the link mentioned below:

http://support.asus.com/download/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

After you open this page, towards the top let corner of the page you would find a box which says"Input Model to Search". Type in "MX/1333" there. Right below that box there is one more box which says"Select Category". Select All from the drop down and then click on search info. It would show you your product model. Click on that. Now you would be asked to select the operaing system that you are using. Select the operating system and click on search and it would show you the list of drivers available for your motherboard.

Happy Downloading :)

I just bought ASUS pg5c-mx/1333 mb but theres no audio.pls help

If installing XP SP3 is a possible issue (validity check), you could install Windows 7 beta. It should either contain all the drivers or at least update to grab the drivers you need. I'm currently running realtek with Vista and haven't have any problems but honestly, wouldn't wish Vista on my worst enemy. Hope this helps.
