Question about Mitsubishi WS-55859 55" Rear Projection Television
I have had this TV since 2001. When you turn on the digital tuner the picture comes on for a fraction of a second, a "thump" is heard, and the TV reboots (flashing green light). After several attempts I have been able to get the TV to turn on. This does not happen on the analog antenna. Any ideas? I am no TV expert, but have a great deal of electronics and soldering background.
on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

Hi there, this is most commonly known as power board failure in the industry. the capacitors are blown. if you are experienced in inspecting circuit boards this will be helpful. you will have to disassemble and pull the power board and preform a break point test. the bown capacitors are easily picked out. they will be swollen and discolored. If you are not comfortable with disassembling this set, i suggest a service call. just tell the tech you are experiencing a power board failure.

SOURCE: The TV was working great
When the power light comes on and then goes out, on the front of the set press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.
The power light will blink a 2 digit error code and repeat it at least 5 times.
The most common error will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks- a pause and then it will repeat it for a total of at least 5 times.
To get it to repeat this--you have to unplug the set, try to turn it on again and repeat the process.
The error codes are to try to narrow down where the problem is.
Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.
If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.
Post comment here if I can assist you further.
