Question about Proview Televison & Video

Open Question

I opened up a proview 3000 which the screen goes on and then off in about a second. I checked all capacitors on the power supply with a capacitor wizard. Every cap checked out ok and resoldered any dry solders I saw. Still no video. I do hear a sizzling noise coming from the main regulator IC on the hot side of the powersupply? I don't have an o-scope so I can't really tell though. Anyone fix a proview 3000 power supply..any know where I can get a new or repaired power supply?

Very important, use a pencil iron only, you can destroy the film on the board if you use too much heat. Go for the two bulging ones first. After you remove the capacitors if the holes fill over use a straight pin or similar to open the hole to accept the new part. Also whatch for the polarity on the one you remove, should have a + sign on one side. Make sure the new one goes back in the same way.

SOURCE: Is this something I can fix myself, do the

Yes, capacitors need to be soldered. But if they are Radial Caps it is easy to do. Just make sure the polarity (-/+) is correct or they will go boom.

SOURCE: Which Replacement Power Board for LNT4665F Samsung LCD TV?

Howdy,
It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

TV will not turn on. It was turning on via switch at back, but now will not. Proview 19

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Screen only stays on for a few seconds then goes blank, you can turn the power off and the same thing will happen, I hook the monitor up to a different pc and the same problem.

Hello,

the Proview PL926 uses the same power supply board as the Gate FPD1975 and it is known to have issues with the capacitors. Here is a link to information on repairing the board.

Screen comes on then goes off after 5 seconds

You may have power supply DC filter caps problem or the back light inverter circuits, need to inspect the inside.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

No, There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

have a look at the board open up the monitor and remove the boards and you have to look for doomed or colored caps, they will be obvious compared to the good flat caps on the board. replacing these will most likely repair your issues.
