Sounds like the soldering points on the jack are coming loose or shorted out. The stereo will have to be taken apart and checked out. You will most likely need a soldering iron to repair the problem

Cannot play my ipod through my technics amp

You would need a mini jack to stereo rca wire. Insert the mini jack to your Ipod's headphones, then plug the stereo rca to your amp inputs. If it's a receiver, plug into any of the inputs (aux, tape etc) except "phono or turntable", then switch to respected input on the receiver. Be sure all volumes on both units are down during this process, then gradually turn up both volume to normal level.

DEH = 2700 AUX TURN ON

The deh-2700 doesn't have an aux input. The headphone jack in the back is for a wired remote.

How do I hook up my ipod to my pioneer vsx d409 ?

The best way is to use a 3,5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable like this:
technical114_34.jpg
You can easily find one like this at your local audio/electronics shop or buy one on line. You have to connect the RCA at any free stereo input at the back of your Pioneer (like aux or cd). Take a look at this picture:
technical114_35.jpg
After this you can use the 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting not only your ipod but every mp3 player or other device has an earphone jack. Just plug the 3.5mm jack at the earphone jack and rise the volume at the portable device up to the middle of the volume range and set your Pioneer input selector at the stereo input that you connect the 2 RCA before (aux or cd)

Hey yeah ummm when my like stereo is off I can connect a cord with my ipod and play it... But since the stereo is technically "off" I can not control the volume on it unless it's the volume control on my...

SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO PLUG INTO THE HEADPHONES JACK AT THE FRONT ! NO GOOD . YOU NEED TO HAVE STEREO ON. AND USE AUX. TO DO THIS pLUG IN YOUR MP3 PLAYER WITH 3.5 STEREO JACK OTHER END BACK OF STEREO INTO AUX. RED AND WHITE RCA PLUGS.
THIS LEAD COSTS LESS THAN $7.00 AND THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD THEN. !
I DID IT MYSELF AND AM HAPPY WITH IT .

How can i play my ipod - do i insert jack into phones and ipod, then what do i need to do?

If you dont have an ipod port, then run a 1/8" audio cable from the Headset jack to the Line Input or Aux input of your stereo. If your stereo receiver has Left and Right RCA style connector inputs, you can find simple cheap adapters at Best Buy.
Good luck

Aux location

There is a RCA cable that comes off the back of the radio and also another cable for 3.5mm (mini-stereo jack) that also comes off the back of the radio. The RCA jacks can be used for "AUX" or "Sub-woofer" and the 3.5mm jack is just for "AUX". Your ipod can use the audio output jack or the headphone jack and plug that into the 3.5 mm jack on the back of the radio. You will need a "3.5mm male" to "3.5mm male" stereo cord that can be purchased at Radio Shack or Best Buy. Then you select "AUX" on the display with the source button to listen to it. You may need to go into the menu and activate the "AUX" input. Check your owners manual for details.

Auxilary RCA inputs have no volume control

Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier. If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).
