I have replaced the solenoid pack, relay, fluid and filter. I cleaned all electrical connections. Once i put it back together, the car ran good for 3 miles and then the light came back on. The only other work that has been done recently is a heater core. Could the ignition switch be causing the problem because I noticed that the key can be pulled out while the engine is running?
First thing I would check is the battery. Lots of times this code gets thrown when there is incorrect voltage to the TCM. If the Batt is good I would then check the voltage regulator in the alternator. Here is a list of other possible causes.
FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT TO TRANS CTRL RELAY OPEN
TCR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
TRANSMISSION CONTROL RELAY CIRCUIT OPEN
TCM PIN 16 TO TCR OPEN OR BAD CONNECTION
TCM PIN 17 TO TCR OPEN OR BAD CONNECTION
NO OUTPUT FROM TRANSMISSION CONTROL RELAY
BAD TCM/PCM
TCM TRANS RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Do the easiest things first:
Check the battery earth lead (bear in mind that if you disconnect the batter you will probably have to re-enter the radio code). Check where it connects to the body/engine block - make sure it is clean and secure.
Then check every other earth lead you can find
