You need to buy a laptop cooling fan. Not expensive. This is a must so you don't burn out the components on the laptop or oops! laptop no more....

hi.Fan Always Runs Or Laptop Overheats And Shuts Itself Off
Warning! Before Disassembling Laptop always unplug power and remove the battery.
Laptops that shut down without warning are often experiencing overheating issues. Overheating may be a symptom of age, of clogged ventilation or impending failure, but it can also result from simply using the laptop in a bad location. Before you try to take the laptop apart to look for problems, it pays to patiently troubleshoot the symptoms and see if an easy fix is possible. I wrote The Laptop Repair Workbook to teach basic laptop technology and troubleshooting to regular people and techs in training. Laptop Overheats

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this.

This site has a some info on that.
I must say that all laptops get hot but the shutting off is worrisome. Try placing it on a raised surface that does not block the air vents and have a fan or something to circulate some cool air around it.

Laptop Compaq Presario F 700 overheats easily and shuts down

When the CPU overheats it shuts down (ie thermal overload) and won't startup until it has cooled down. This problem is caused by faulty fans (with bearing problems and may not spinning at normal speed) or the fan and heatsink assembly is clogged with dust.
Check the vents and fan and vacuum and remove the dust.

If the laptop is not placed on a flat surface there may not be enought air entering the vent on the bottom of the laptop.
To improve ventillation, you can stick rubber pads on the bottom of the laptop to increase the height of the laptop off the table. Better still purchase a laptop fan assisted base and place the laptop on this base, this provides further fan assisted ventillation.

Toshiba A65-S1062 - This laptop overheats and shuts down.

I bet that you had your laptop on all the time.
Your heat sink is saturated with dust and grit.
you may have to open up the unit and use a can of dust remover to clean the fins on the heat sink out. it is causing your CPU to shut down bucause it is becoming overheated.
Happy Fixing =)
