I have the Officejet 5600 all-in-one series. I shut off the power yesterday, 7-14-09 to try and "reset" a scan issue. NOw I can't get the power back on. Thereis power going to the all-in-one, but the ON button doesn't turn the printer on. It doesn't light up, OK, SETUP etc., nothing works. Tried the #3, #6, and #9. There is a black bar/boxes across the face of the all-in-one. Uninstalled and reinstalled software....okay, what now? I have XP. It's like the keypad isn't registering. I've unplugged and plugged everything back in. I don't think the computer knows it's there although the All-In-One is marked as the default printer. Can't make sense of it.
Don't have one of those. Buttons are COPY, FAX, SCAN, START-Black and Color, CXL, SETUP, OK, SPEEDIAL, REDIAL and Standard keypad. I tried to find some type of reset "button" on the bottom or back but nothing. I have literally started over with this thing..meaning, completely unplugged it like it was brand-new. Guess I should have never shut it off. Thanks thoughDon't have one of those. Buttons are COPY, FAX, SCAN, START-Black and Color, CXL, SETUP, OK, SPEEDIAL, REDIAL and Standard keypad. As these sits have great information, I still have the problem of no power to the All-in-One, therefore the computer doesn't recognize it. I have 3 HP printers. Detection only finds two, not the 5610. Again, I know there is power to the machine because the window gets black bars when I plug it in and the bars go away when I unplug it. Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
No need to worry this happens a lot with this series.
HP have written a whole big article to resolve this issue, I'll suggest you go step by step, but if you are sure that you have cleaned the Paper Jam properly, then you can follow the instructions under Solution 4 directly. (Reset Method)
I hope you will resolve this issue yourself.
If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed. Concerned, Nooh PS. HP Support Link
Sounds funny....try to open and remove the cartridges, and then power on.... the black bars usually indicate some kind of electrical problem, and it is usually the carts...open the printer, remove the carts, ( you may have to gently slide the carousel over for access ) and close power down, and remove the power. Then reverse...let me know if this helps...
Please go to www.hp.com and put officejet 5600 in the search bar and you will find the software program for it. If you can't find it there contact me and I will get it for you. 713-204-9111 or [email protected].

the CD you have is fine for 5610, HP printer drivers are desgin for printer series . ex: 56xx, 4000, etc. yo will not find driver for 5610, but 5600 series driver.
You may have a couple of problems. First, you say you have more than one icon in your Printers dialog box for 5600 series printers. My guess is that you installed two different drivers, one for the 5600 and one for the 5610.
Try deleting the 5600 printer icon and making the 5610 the default printer. Run the test print again to verify it works, then open a Word document and see if you can print that.
This brings me to the second issue; what exactly are you trying to print? The issue in this case, may not be the printer but an issue with the document. Some documents have a security feature that prevents printing. Try different documents (Word, Excel, etc...) and see if the problem is across the board. Post the results here.
here are the things that i want you to follow to somehow resolve your issue.
1. On your computer, click on start then go to control panel
2. inside control panel open the PRINTERS and FAXES (XP) or PRINTER (VISTA).
3. make sure change the default printer icon to the HP Officejet 5600 series.
- right click HP Officejet 5600 series and choose "set as default printer"
4. then try printing,
note: the reason why you encounter that problem is because the default printer icon is the "HP officejet 5600 series fax".
