I had a power outage in my apartment yesterday and today my Canon PIXMA ip4500 printer will not turn on. I have tried plugging it to different outlets. There is simply NO response from the printer.

My printer was pluggined into a surge protector. The surge protector was not "tripped." Furthermore, the computer was not damaged.

Sounds like the power outage was a power surge and destroyed your printer, especially if your printer was not plugged into a power surge protector strip. Check with others in your apartment to see if they experienced the same. If so, your landlord may be responsible and can put in a claim. If your printer is still under warranty, contact Canon. Also, check to see if this item is covered by tenant insurance, if you have coverage. Hope this helps.

I'm glad that the rest of your system was not affected. Often, after a power outage and after the printer cools, the printer works again. Yours was not the case. But, I still believe the outage affected the printer. As I said, if your printer is no longer under warrantee, check with others in your building and with your insurance company if you have tenant insurance. Good luck.

Hello how are you.
If you install windows 7 when you turn on the USB cable to the driver you downloaded from the Internet. If windows finds himself then the problem is the USB turntable.
Call the appropriate Canon printer service.

Chances are it has blown the main fuse in the power supply, and perhaps done some additional damage to some electronic parts. The printer must be dis-assembled to make that determination.
