Water inlet valve. It may not be able to shut
completely when the electricity to it has been turned off. The valve may leak
and drip water into the clothes tub. Water may accumulate substantially
and overflow. Remove the washer's cabinet to access it.
Water level switch. This switch senses the water level
in the clothes tub. It is usually a diaphragm device with a small clear
tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer
tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the air pressure in the
tube increases and activates the switch when the water reaches a
certain level. When the switch is obstructed, it cannot tell the water
to shut off and the machine overflows.Clear it from any obstruction.
Air-hose. It is connected to the water level switch
through a tube. If the tube or hose is cracked or broken, no enough
pressure builds up to trigger the switch and shut the water supply off.
Check it for any obvious damage.
There is a float connected to a switch that controls water level. It is usually round and will move freely up and down by hand. But your problem might be a levelling related one. The dishwasher must be level to operate correctly. Use a torpedo level in the tank base to check front to back level and side to side level. Adjust the front legs to level the unit.
May be this time the drain hose has been clogged or the drain hose is at a higher level than the unit or may be the drain pump has stopped functioning.
What you can try is to get the machine empty and remove the hose that connects the pressure hose to the switch and blow air through it to make sure it is clear, then tap on the nozzle where the hose connects on the switch to make sure it is also clear.
i assume it's a top load and not a front load ..could be bad pressure switch, small hole somewhere in clear pressure switch hose or least likely a hole on inside within air dome area but not through tub to cause leak
Check and ensure that the tubes and passages to the water level pressure sensor are not blocked by caked detergent, lint , etc. ( this may have caused the water overflow in the first place) clean up the internal parts that are wetted by the overflow.
clean the door lock mechanism. ( this normally works on a temperature delay mechanism, if cleaning does not work, replace)
all the above done with the power unplugged and water inlets unplugged , of course
