Try to use a program named Driver Talent! I used it to install drivers for my Windows 10 computer.

It's possible that you need to get updated Win7 drivers from mfr.

Here's what you will end up doing. ANALOG CAPTURE. I could help if we knew more about the HOST PC/MACINTOSH machine. It's only my opinion that to get a FIREWIRE ANALOG VIDEO DIGITIZER is not a great idea.

SOURCE: Computer won't recognize Gr-DLV 300 with firewire connection

My Sony camcorder wouldn't work with firewire either until I downloaded a fix at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=CA0F2007-18B5-4112-8BD6-8BF4BD3130B9&displaylang=en

Hope that helps!

what you can do is go to a electronics shop and have the camera looked and ask for a firewire converter. im sure they have lots of converters. be sure also that the converter fits perfectly to your camera.

Unable to transfer video information onto PC ACER ASPIRE using windows Vista for editing by windows movie maker. Interface on PC is via USB. If software driver for firewire or 1394 interface is available...

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer.

Refer this Link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot transfer video from my Sharp VL-NZ50 to my PC

I had the same problem with the VL-NZ50. It wasn't the camera, it was the IEEE 1394 interface on the laptop(s) -
I tried two different ones, one XP, the other W7 64; both were HPs with on-board (OHCI compliant) TI
IEEE-1394 chipsets.

Then I tried a Gateway desktop (Vista) with an on-board Ricoh
IEEE 1394 interface: the VL-NZ50 was recongnized instantly, controlled by the PC and transferring video flawlessly.

If you want it to work with your laptop , try an Adaptec PCMCIA card (I've heard they work with this camera), they can be had for under $10.

Will the jvc gr-d73e work with windows vista?

providing Vista correctly detects AVC-compliant firewire devices, /any/ camcorder which is compliant with this specification (hence has iLink/i400 connection) should work with it.

Trying to tranfer digital video camera video to my computer

Hi

I think you may need to connect the camera via Firewire, I've checked the specs of your camera and it seems to be minidv and has a firewire port. A lot of video editing software will not detect your camera unless it is connected via the firewire port. you need to check if your pc has one first of all you can do this by going to control panel/ network connections and see if there's an icon for 1394 Connection if there is then you have firewire, so you then need to see which type of socket it is on your pc and on your camera and purchase a suitable cable. Take a look here for a reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireWire If you don't have firewire you can buy a firewire pci card that will slot into your computer which will contain 3 or 4 ports.

Windows Vista will not let Windows Movie Maker import/edit videos

I would look for a more recent driver on the Samsung support website specifically for  Vista; it apparently does not have the right (or any) driver to permit it to work with your DVD camcorder. I don't think any of your hardware, computer or camcorder is dysfunctional, Windows just has to know how to communicate with it.
What you might try first is to have the camcorder connected (USB I assume) and reboot your PC. If Win can see it at all, you should get a screen message that it has found new hardware.  If it has some basic driver on hand, the message might state 'installing software for your device.'
