Wifi Keeps Dropping

Dropouts are usually caused by the modem itself and not so much the wifi unit in the laptop. Next time it drops out, try resetting the modem router first. If this fixes it immediately the problem lies there. Next is to identify what wifi card you have in your system. You can find this in Device Manager. Then go to the original manufacturers website and see if there is a later driver for your card. If so, download and install it from there and not the Asus site. Sometimes the laptop manufacturers are a bit slow in keeping individual 3rd party drivers up to date.

Asus x83v won't boot up

Unplug the machine, remove battery, leave the battery out, plug in the machine, try to boot normally. If the fails unplug, plug in, push the on/off button and IMMEDIATLY start tapping the F-11 REPEATEDLY. Enter restore/recovery section select a date before this problem started and restore. If that fails do a system recovery to factory settings. Or if you have a Windows Vista repair disk, Windows Vista Install disk that you can use to repair

Asus x83v screen is black and has vertical lines on half of it.

As the product is under a year old it should be covered under warranty. Get in touch with asus customer services before you let anyone attempt a repair as doing so may invalidate your warranty

My ASUS X83v laptop wont start up, it keeps rebooting.

Try booting in safe mode...if you are able to get into safe mode without it rebooting then you have a driver problem, Try updating all drivers and see if that works. If you can't even get into safe mode, then it could be either, Bad RAM, Motherboard, Corrupted Hard drive or power supply.

To trouble shoot Ram, if you have more than one piece, take all out except for one and try it, if it works, then try the other piece of RAM in the same slot, then try both in the other slot, this will tell you if it's your RAM or your RAM slot.

Motherboard, not much you can do

Corrupted Hard disk, try booting into safe mode with command Prompt and run chkdsk utility on your drive

Power supply, make sure the battery is charging, if possible try another battery fully charged for the same model, remove battery and plug laptop in, unplug and just use battery..

Hope some of this helps you
