Re: shadow on right side of screen

Shadows on the left or right (if the projector is ceiling mounted) of the projected image area has nothing to do with the DMD it is the light tunnel tha is at fault. See other posts about this problem.

Is your projector ceiling mounted? This is a common problem with these projectors, I am assuming that this projector is ceiling mounted because the shadow would be on the left if it is the right way up. This is caused by the light tunnel (a sort of hollow box made of mirrors) collapsing. It will have to be replaced but can also be glued (araldite epoxy or similar NOT SUPER GLUE) back together if the mirrors are still in good condition but requires a lot of patience. Best left to someone who has done this before as the colour wheel has to be removed and this is very delicate.

The light tunnel has collapsed. Google "infocus light tunnel." You can glue it, as I did, but it tends to break again. From what I have read nobody has a good fix and the manufacturer has ignored the problem which has alienated a lot of customers. They won't even sell a replacement tunnel. Good luck!

Got a purple stripe from the lower edge of the screen center to center. gradient to the middle of screen. like 100 lines wide. any hints THANKS michi m

if it's sharp edged and inline with the pixels, you have a bad green lcd panel. if it's fuzzy and random, you have a burnt light filter. either way, it's an optical engine issue. you can try to go into the case, remove the ribbon cable for the green lcd (unlock the ribbon clip first) and reinsert it and lock it down. if that doesn't work, you'll have to replace it.

Actually you can turn the projector on and then tilt it in all directions and see if picture shadowing changes. I have experience with this issue on DLP TV'S. IT sounds like a light tunnel problem if you can see partial picture behind shadow. It is fixable but very tedious. But can be done. Do you have a picture of the problem that you could send over? Thanks Jay

Do you have the projector inside a hush box? If so, it could be too far back in the box. Readjust and see if that removes your shadow.
You may have a haze on your lenses. Have you tried cleaning your color wheel and associated lenses? This procedure is for the skilled since you must disassemble your projector. Keep in mind that the color wheel is VERY, VERY fragile. Use a lens cleaning agent or 91% isopropyl alcohol and q-tips. The agent must not leave a haze. Have plenty of time and patience since this may take you about an hour just to clean the color wheel. Did I mention that the color wheel is VERY fragile…

This link may also be helpful. See section 5.10.

I hope this helps,

Infocus 70+

We have had similar issue w/ multiple LP70+ projectors. The units get to be 1-2 years old and suddenly the right vertical edge of the display is distorted. There is usually a shadowed vertical bar that clouds about 3-5% of the horizontal space from the right edge.
What's the cause?

Infocus LP70+ has a small shadow in the right lower corner of the display. Could this be a bulb or lens problem or ??? Thanks for any help suggestions.

the light tunnel is collapsing. it's used to hep evenly distribute the light and make the edges crisp. infocus now calls it an integrator rod (315-0055-xx).

to replace the tunnel (rod):
take the top off, take the screws out of the top and the wires out of the circuit board, take the fans out, take off the colorwheel shield, remove the lens assembly (optical engine), remove the colorwheel, take out the 3 set screws, and slide out the tunnel assembly. then remove the foil around the opening and the screw out of the top, and slide the rod carrier out. now remove the metal clip and the pieces of mirror. replace the tunnel (rod), put the clip back on, and reverse the procedure. now, the 2 set screws on the side are to adjust the image, so do not put them in too tightly, and they must be adjusted while the projector is on and the cover is off.

or give it to someone else to do.
