Hi, we have a whirlpool gold side by side refrigerator. Just today, our daughter tried to dispense water from the refrigerator, and nothing happens...no water, no sound. Any ideas?
Propably the pump is failed
I had the same problem and it appear the cable set between the freezer door and refrigerator body has some wires broken. The cable is in the bottom right hinge. You can try moving the cable with fingers at the same time you're pushing the water lever.
While this is not going to be a permanent fix, at least it confirm where the problem is.
Correction to my previous comment: The cable is in the LEFT hinge... not right.
In my case I'm 100% sure this is the problem: Every time I need water I just need to reach the wire set and push it into some certain direction to make the water flow. Next thing I'll try is to replace the defective piece of cable. I'll post back if this did permanently fix it.
Fixed it! One wire (pink color) was break apart just where the cable bends when opening/closing the freezer door. Rejoined the cables with a simple crimp on connector and water is flowing again! :-)
