The problem is hard water. there is a product at www.dishwasherfilter.com that filters out these hard minerals that cause those spots and leaves your dishes crystal clear every time. it is very affordable and has a money back guarantee. you will love this product and your dishes again.

Usually a couple causes for this:

1. The dishwasher isn't draining properly - Check the drain pipe and filter are clear of debris and clean... Dirty waste outlets or filters can sometimes cause this because not all water is draining off efficiently.

2. The type of detergent or dishwashing powder/liquid used. Some are better than others! Try switching brands to a better quality detergent and see if it makes a difference.

3. The dishwasher itself mnay need cleaning. You can buy dishwasher cleaning solution in small bottles. These just sit in the dishwasher rack by themselves and you run the dishwasher through a normal cycle with nothing else but the cleaner bottle in it. This cleans and sanitizes the dishwasher and can give better cleaning results with less residue.

Hope it helps!

I have a chalky white residue all over the heating element. The same residue gets all over everything when I run it. I already tried vinegar on a high temp wash cycle.

Chalky residue left on dishes

hi,
The chalky residue would have formed due to the washing liquid or powder used. According to my experience, I am happy with "Amway -Dishwasher liquid".Please try it for washing your dishes. It leaves no residues and even cleans your dishwasher. On continuous usage, you may find the difference. Overall, it cleans your dishes as well as washer simultaneously. Though its a bit expensive, it is worth buying it.
please search in "ebay" for your country to get the product. Please rate my solution as helpful. Regards, Venu.

White Residue

most likely it is your detergent. palmolive eco is notorious for leaving a white chalky residue on dishes. try this out before calling a service tech: put unclean glasses in the dishwasher and in your soap dish and rinse cycle cup put 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. if it cleans (or improves) your dishes, then your detergent is the culprit.
