Why does a fuse keep blowing out for the brake lights?

Look at the fuse when its blows again. If the fuse element in black and lots of spray inside the fuse you have a dead short to ground, work from the lights back towards the switch, follow the wiring looking for any signs of blackened and burned wires and/or black burn spots on the body metal. If its just melted but still a clean break it indicates the circuit is being overloaded at some point. Try disconnecting all items in the smae circuit, plug each in one at a time, once it blows you found which one is casing the problem.

1993 Volvo 940T wagon bulb monitor lights up only when on the brake and all three bulbs are new and all contacts have been cleaned and tabs bent for tighter contact and still the same

Make sure all bulbs match in wattage, manufacturer and condition.
Also ensure the connections in the bulb circuit harness connector are clean.
Those bulb monitor sensors are a special kind of relay. It can detect one bulb out. If two bulbs fail, you wouldn't get a warning. Sometimes I find dirty connections at the base of the sensor itself and cleaning those fixes it. The entire affair is installed into a red cylindrical shaped canister in the electrical center. These sensors are very sensitive to resistance differentials. I've gone through this many times with these sensors and the only real way to fix the issue (provided the sensor isn't faulty) is to change every bulb including the third brake light all at the same time, clean every ground and connection point, reinstall the ground tabs back to the body and meter each component out with a decent high-impedance ohmmegger if needed. It's a pain, and sometimes I end up just removing the indicator from the dash cluster and simply inspect each week. They are known to be overly sensitive especially when aftermarket radios and trailer wiring are installed. Note on trailer wiring: always install that into a separate branch circuit, preferably bypassing the unit as it could become damaged and then your headlights will stop working as well. Good luck and keep me posted should you need more help.

How to bypass ballast

The ballast is needed to start and regulate the bulb. I wouldnt recommend bypassing, unless you know how many volts the bulb needs to start(would need appropriate capasitor) and the watts/ amps needed to stay running (which would require a transformer) caps and transformers= a ballast, its easier to replace the ballast than build your own and risk it.

Removed the switch plate and connected the two wires going into the dimmer box and the lights still dont come on. I as thikning by bypassing the dimmer the lights should still function. What else could be...

I am going to stick my neck out a little with this one although I agree with BoomerP. The clue of halogen bulbs is feeding my answer. Halogen bulbs require a high voltage transformer to operate and won't normally work with a dimmer but I never tried it. Bypassing the switch should bring them on though. If you have the proper voltage at the switch and they don't work with the switch bypassed, its probably a bad transformer in the fixture. Good Luck. Be careful.

Headlight keeps going out, replaced the bulb

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, check / clean the start button switch and its insides. There is a hidden bypass switch that disables the headlight when starting.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

My 90 ford aerostars reverse lights wont come on, i've tried replacing the bulbs, still no luck?

Please remember that I am guessing from the Shack of Raz a long way off and can not see the situation. Be kind with a thumbs up for trying.
Now, Have you checked the fuses? The fuse box should be located under the dash on the driver side but it may have a dashboard flap over it that you need to pull down. Is so it would blend in with the dash.
Once you locate it then check the diagram on the back of the cover or front and look for maybe transmission or actually I am not sure so just pull each fuse one at a time and if it looks good replace it back to the smae slot. You will be able to tell a bad fuse by the wire inside. It should be one solid wire. No breaks. You may see it has melted through.
If you find a bad one continue to chack all the rest because sometimes they have a domino effect and take out more then one. Remember to replace a bad one with the same amount of amps as the old one.

If this doesn't fix it or you find no bad fuses then lets move back to the bulb.
Put it in reverse witht he key on and wiggle the bulb and twist a little back and forth to see if it blinks on an off. If so then turn the key off and put it in park. You will need to clean the casing the bulb sits in.
Get some steel wool or a very small tooth brush size wire brush. A gun cleaning kit may have a small wire brush that will work if you own a kit.
Just start brushing all the sides until nice and shiny. Be sure to clean the contact point in the very bottom as well.
Let me know how it goes. And please remember a thumbs up for the effort on my part. Raz

My prime button broke can i bypass it

No, you cannot bypass it. Even if you could get it to run without the bulb there would be a significant chance of fire and injury. Replacement Ryobi primer bulbs are very common, you can get one just about fact, you can go to Google, put in Ryobi and whatever the model number is of your trimmer and the words primer bulb and you will get plenty of hits for parts companies that carry the replacement bulb.
