All four Igniters on my GE Profile Performance gas cook top started firing intermittently tonight. One click from each burner about every 3-4 seconds. When I turned on all of the burners for a while, then back off, the clicking stopped. What's wrong?

All five igniters are firing every 2-3 seconds, even with all knobs in off position.

the unit starts clicking all by itself. sounds like its coming from one burner but cant figure out which one. Unplug it for 3-4 hours and its good for a couple of weeks. whats up?

Igniter's are bad and, or, a short in the wiring or switch. replace the igniter, then check to see if problem still exists, you can also check wires going from igniter to switch with ohm meter for continuity and shorted wires.

Kenmore gas range when no clicking when turning the oven on

Range: Gas burner won't spark or ignite A surface burner igniter switch and a spark module activate the spark electrode when a burner is turned to the "Lite" position on a gas range's cooktop. If the surface burner switch, spark module or wiring in that circuit fails, the spark electrode won't work, and as a result the gas burner won't light. If those components work but the electrode won't spark, the problem could be that the spark electrode is coated with spilled food of is bent or broken. In addition, the electrode won't spark or ignite the burner properly if the ceramic insulation sleeve below the tip of the electrode is cracked or broken. If the gas burner isn't lighting, these repairs may help.

Replace the spark igniter electrode

1396454293470.jpg The spark igniter electrode-also called the surface burner igniter-is an insulated electrode that provides an ignition spark to light a surface gas burner. It sparks and makes a ticking sound when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the spark ignition electrode if it fails to spark or if the ceramic insulation sleeve is cracked or chipped. How to Replace a Spark Igniter Electrode in a Gas Range Find This Part

Replace the surface spark module

1377098014986.jpg The surface spark module is in the ignition circuit for the gas surface burners. When a surface burner control knob is turned to the "Lite" position, it provides voltage to the spark electrodes on the gas surface burners. If the surface spark module fails to provide the electrodes with voltage, then it should be replaced. Find This Part

Replace the spark igniter switch

1396454315355.jpg The igniter switch is an electrical switch on the stem of the gas surface burner control valve. This switch completes a circuit to the surface burner spark module, causing the burner igniters to spark when the burner switch is turned to the Lite position. Replace the burner igniter switch if the burners don't spark when you turn the burner control knob to the Lite position or if igniters spark constantly even when the burner knobs are in the Off position.

Thermador over two left burners will not provide gas when knobs are turned. Also the oven will not light and the igniters on all burners will not spark. The electric is good to the appliance oven fan

You have multiple problems! First the single igniter that fires in all of the burners is either broken or disconnected electrically. Second, your gas lines or nozels at some of the burners are clogged. Check for cloggs by using a match as you light ONE BURNER AT A TIME...If they all light you only have the electronic igniter to troubleshoot...Have a repairman check it out for you if you don't feel confident with gas!

Electric igniters dont shut off

Remember to turn the control knob past the "LITE" setting once the burner fires.
If that is not the issue you have one or more defective spark switches.
Each valve has its own switch wired in series with the others.

Burners not lighting

You have one or more spark switches defective or a loose wire to the switches.
They are located on each gas valve stem.
Yes they should be replaced for safety.
In the interim you can match light the surface burners.

Apparently there was a water spill around the burner control knob and in the burner itself; We ran the burner to create heat and then turned it off and let the water dry out and evaporate from the burner and igniter area.

Electronic ignition

Most likely you got water (or some other liquid) into the control knobs. Unplug, go to bed and try it again in the morning. If you continue to futz with it, you run the chance of burning out the electronics in the control knob, like I did. :(

You have water left over from cleaning and it is shorting out the igniters at the knobs, not the burners. I guess the solution is to wait until it dries out unless you can open the top and maybe use a hair dryer.

Spark igniters on the burners fire continuously

Had The same problem. I removed the top of the control panel to find out that one of the ignitor switches had turned when I replaced the four large plasic nuts on the control panel. Make sure the switches (block) are aligned, and kept aligned, when re-installing the top of the control panel. Startwreck.
