Question about Intermatic T104 24h 208-277v Mechanical Time Switch

1 Answer

My pool's Dial Time Switch won't trip "off" anymore. After killing the power to my timer for a couple of days to drain/refill my pool, I turned it back on and all was working well (but the time and day was askew due to its temporary loss of power). A couple of weeks later, I decided I wanted to adjust the clock to the correct time. I did this by pulling the yellow disk out, spinning it to the correct time of day, and putting it back. All worked well, in that the timer advanced properly as the hours passed, and turned the pump/filter on when it hit the "on" trigger. However, when it came time to turn off the pump, although the timer pushed the off switch up, it did not push it up quite high enough to actually turn the pump off. I have tried adjusting the time again, rescrewing down the "OFF" tripper, but nothing seems to work....when the appropriate time period comes, the Off tripper lifts the lever to within a millimeter or so of the required height needed to throw the lever to the Off position, but it never quite gets high enough to actually throw it off, and thus the pump stays on 24 hours. I don't see any damage to the trippers nor to the timer. I am at a loss why the tripper is no longer raising the lever quite high enough to turn off the pump. --- Okay, so that was the question I was going to send you guys, but then I figured out the solution: It turns out that both the Off and On triggers had slightly bent out over time as the screws were screwed down tightly. I thought that was normal, since they were both bent. But, upon taking a pair of ploers and making the front and back of the off trigger parallel to one another, it fixed it so that the timer now shuts the pump off. I thought I would send this in in case you want to post it so others don't need to spend the hours that it took me to find the solution to the problem.

I have the same problem. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "making the front and back of the off trigger parallel to one another".

Hi,
The switch for the pool pump does not necessarily run from the same power as the timer motor...

Check for timer motor rated power on the first two terminals that run the timer motor...you may not have proper power there...you may have 120v but not 240 volt...

I need to reset the timer on my 633T Krystal Clear pump as we have unplugged the power and we can't get the timer to work.

You know the timer can only be programmed once and it is 24 hrs after the last time it ran. So turn it on at the exact time of day you want it to run every day, set the dial to how many hours to run and walk away. It should start up automatically 24 hrs later each and every day (as long as you have the on switch set to the timer position)

Timer is probably repairable if manual override clicks crisp and clean and load turns on-off.
If the timer dial is not rotating or not on time, then replace clock motor. WG number is printed on clock motor.
If dial is rotating on time, then replace 156T1978A trippers.

Brand new Intermatic timer for pool, but it will not trip the pool ON...It does trip the pool OFF only??????

So you can turn the pool timer off using manual override.

The center dial is also turning.

These 2 things mean the timer is working fine, but you forgot to put the OFF tripper pins on the dial.

5def96a.jpg Picture shows Off tripper coming in contact with lever that clicks lights on and off. The lever is connected the manual override. So if manual override is working, then the lever is working.

Timer stops at on postion? transfomer works, have to do it by hand

If the timer is stopping, it could be a physical obstruction. Or it could be an electrical mis wiring so that the timer is turning itself off at that point, check the incoming wiring and see if it makes sense, and follow the diagram to see if the incoming power is definitely not on any switched terminals, they would maybe be marked with NO , NC,

I moved the time pinter by accident. now the timer

Did you mix up the pointers? One of them is for off and one for on. Dont know any other reason. If the timer is working all the pointers do is manually trip the lever as it comes past. On and Off should be stamped on the pointer.

Once T101 Timer Shuts Off will not turn back on

you have the hot and load reversed. the power source should connect to terminal 1. the wire going on to the pool pump should be hooked to terminal 2.

the clock motor is powered off terminal 1 and A is the neutral.

what u have done is hooked the power source to #2 and the load to #1, simply switch them and everything should be fine, here is a link to the wiring diagram for the timer.

look on the dial to see which way it turns, it has time markings on it and turns the way it needs to in order to keep time, if u pull it out to set it, then u push it back in for it to work and vice versa
